radio volume problem

lets say the volume level of my radio is at 8. i use the knob to increase the volume by turning the knob to the right...what happens is..when i turn the volume up..it will go 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15. then for some reason when it hits a certain number, usually between 15-18 it will skip back down to 5,6,7...
what the F?
anyone else experience this problem?

It would reset back to 5?

That's weird, have you tried doing it at a slow pace? Because usually when you try to turn it fast, we reverse the increased amount without even knowing.

Does it also happen with the st wheel buttons.

No, I've never seen it. If the radio's been on for a while, and the st wheel buttons don't do it, the HU is bad...

it does not do it with the steering wheel buttons, it only does it with the knob, wether i turn it slowly, or quickly.
really pissing me off.

All I know is that when you first turn on the radio and slightly move the volume knob to the left, the volume resets to 0 (zero).
