problems starting?

Anyone experienced this?

I have a 2005 TSX MT. I stalled it this morning and it took several tries to restart. I turned the key and nothing happened -- the starter did not engage. After about five tried it started and everything was fine.

When I got home I experimented -- shut the car off and immediately tried to restart -- and could duplicate the problem occasionally. The starter would not engage, then I would try again and it would. So same thing, but not as bad as when it had stalled.

I called the dealer and they said the electronics were probably "confused." They suggested waiting a few seconds before restarting, especially if the car has stalled.

Do you think that explanation makes sense?

Your dealer's probably right. The immobilizer may need few seconds to reset properly. Try removing the key from the ignition, pause, put back in and try again.

^^ I don't think this needs to be done...

I've stalled a few times in traffic and when I went to start my car it started right away.

Maybe you should go to the dealer and let them check it out.

I still believe in my original answer, but never hurt to ask the dealer to get to bottom of it

Somewhat related on the topic. I noticed that every time I attempt to start the TSX, there is a few seconds lag before the engine is actually started.

I read in the manual that it can do this sometimes and it is normal. But it happens everytime, just wondering if this is normal. My previous three cars never had this characteristic.

I know I was just poking fun given what's written

I do heel-toe downshifting too when the occasion calls for it, mighty fun

I remember the manual says it has to do with the computer figuring out and setting up something for best emmision control

When I purchased my '04 MT in May of '03 I had starting problems quite often. The culprit was a bad upper clutch AND lower clutch switches. No problems since replacing them.
