Problem with Intake

ok so i went to a meet at the mall were i live and noticed my gas was dropping alot. So i looked at my engine bay and found that a smaller hose towards the top of the intake with the little box attached was disconnected from the main intake. The hose had a smaller iron tube inside of it and everytime i drive somewere after i fix it, i check it again when i stop and its disconnected again. I dont no why it keeps slipping off, but is there any way i can make it stop falling off?
here is a pic of where it is at...

Are the clamps on tight? If not I'd get some replacement screw type clamps that you can tighten down with a screwdriver.

get the screw type clamps and remove the factory ones
the factory ones lose their recoil pressure after being removed a few times

Yea, its the clamps. What fixed it for me is that I just had those two clamps trade places and its been fine for almost 3 years now...

What the Acura mechanic did for mine when I was having that problem, was he got a piece of automotive hose of the same diameter but about 1/2" longer, and replaced the existing hose (from the fatter piece to the engine side), essentially removing the need for that metal tube splice inside the two hoses, and eliminating the need for one of the clamps. He used the screw-type clamps.

It's been fine for over a year. I think the Injen design / OEM design is a BIT to short, and once the engine rocks a bit in its mounts (from revving, etc.), it pulls at the connections (stretching the hose and pulling on the clamps) and pops off in one or more places. A longer hose and better clamps should fix this, as it did for me.

just out of curiosity.. what are the affects of driving around without that tube connected? What harm does it cause to the car?

As far as I know, nothing. It depends if that tube is a breather IN to the engine, or OUT of the engine. If it's IN, then the effect is its not pulling in filtered air, but instead pulling in unfiltered air.

Had a day off from school today so I decided to undergo the Injen install, the hardest part was tearing it all apart, + the infamous bolt which is a real pain to get off. All and all it was a clean install, but I also noticed after driving it around that the hose would disconnect itself like the OP, I “corrected” this and I use it in quotations because I haven’t put it to the test yet, by installing metal screw clamps like the ones that came with the Injen, just thought this would be helpful for those who undergo the install and run into similar problems.
