Problem Bleeding the Brakes
Problem Bleeding the Brakes
Changed all 4 pads and rotors on the weekend and wanted to bleed the brakes as well.
I was using a hand pump bleeding kit. The first wheel (driver front) went fine. fluid pressure was great, no problems. The pass front didn't go so well. When I loosened the nipple there was no pressure. The pump was ready but the flow was painfully slow and eventually stopped. No idea what to do from here. Is there air in the line? Should I change the nipple?
Any advice would be appreciated.
I stopped there and did not complete the rears as I wasn't sure if I should continue. Brake feel seems fine BTW.

Did you try the traditional method of bleeding? Could've been a failure in the pump and nothing to do with the caliper at all. Just a thought. Additionally, there is always some buildup behind the caliper piston. That could be blocking the fitting and the messy solution is to remove the caliper, flip it upside down and remove the nipple. Pump a couple of times to clear it, use an air nossel to blow blockage out of the nipple (off the caliper) from the outside of it (you don't want to blow any blockage from the part that screws into the caliper to the outside of the nipple).
Of course, this just means you'll need to start the bleed over to get air out of the passenger caliper, but just some more thoughts.

Ya, traditional bleeding was also suggested by a co-worker. More pressure apparently.
I'll try that first and then try removing the nipple if need be. Thanks for the suggestion moda.
Thankfully doesn't sound like anything went too wrong.

The nipples can be had at the auto parts store for relatively cheap. If you put the reservoir cap on, not much fluid will leak when you take the nipple off (some will obviously). If the nipple is plugged, the easiest fix would be to just put a new one on.
I'm going to be doing this project this week. I hope it goes more smoothly.

Yup.
