Power Steering Recall. Did you get a fluid flush?
I had my Acura serviced for the power steering recall back in November. When I took my car in, during the multi point inspection, they stated the power steering fluid was dirty and needed to be replaced.
I had assumed when they replaced the hose, they flushed fluid. I see they have an entry that fluid was added. Anyone have any experience with this and did you get your fluid changed?

I didn't think to ask any details when I had mine done last month as I was more concerned with a different issue, but the receipt says "Flushed the p/s fluid and replaced the p/s pressure hose per s/b 10-010." The hose kit and fluid are listed under the line codes.

I had my hose replaced two times. Initially, prior to the recall, my brother-in-law (owns a shop and deals mostly with Japanese cars), replaced the hose with a hose from the dealership parts department.
Once the recall notice came out, the dealership said that despite the replacement being an "Acura part", it did not matter, and they had to replace this hose with another hose (different part numbers) and they changed the fluid.

On recalls they will just replace the fluids that was lost ,cause the techs only get paid a certain amount time to replace the p/s line .I've been there was a tech for Chrysler and caravans had a p/s line recall also.we only got paid for 10mins of work. So we would do the same thing.

I asked honda about the acura recall, they won't honor the recall repair since they aren't acura. So now I'm stuck with a dilemma...either fight them for drive about an hour to go to an acura dealer and get the repair done.
***Side note: had all fluids flushed last month since I rolled 100k on the odometer.

Well, years as a Marine Corps mechanic and probably five years with Honda/Acura/Kia dealers I can tell you that it is rare, if ever, for a dealer to flush a fluid unless you ask for it.
Anytime a dealer does a repair where there is a loss of fluid, they will simply top off the fluid. Even when you take a vehicle in specifically to have a fluid replaced they don't flush it unless you ask, and pay, for a flush. Its generally a drain and fill.
Finally, NEVER assume a dealer does anything. In fact, that should be a general rule in life as well.

it's a car-drive it
when I had the power steering recall done the dealer did not do a fluid flush. They told me they would only do it if the fluid was contaminted and that was rare. They did add some fluid.

If you read the actual recall notice, you'll see nothing about changing the fluid. That said, it is a really easy job, and though there's no recommended maintenance interval, I figure it can't hurt to do it at least as often as changing the transmission fluid. All you need is a turkey baster, a can for the old fluid, and like three bottle of Honda PS fluid. Suck it out, fill it, start the car and cycle the steering wheel a few times (lock to lock I mean)(I do it with the front wheels off the ground, but taking for a ride would accomplish the same thing)(I try to never turn the front wheels with the car stationary. It puts a tremendous load on the various suspension pieces). Do this three times and you'll have replaced most of the fluid. Now I'm aware that there is a more thorough way to do this change (by removing the PS hose), but the turkey baster method is fast and easy and is something that almost anyone might actually do on their own.
