Power Steering

Recall fixed already but here is my issue. 04 TSX. I start the car, put it in drive and as i take off it seems that I lose power steering for a few seconds. After that and while I drive, power steering is fine and no issues. I checked the fluid level and it is fine. any ideas?

I have a 2004 TSX. I have the same damn issue. I had my power steering wheel hose replaced not long ago from the dealer and while turning, I feeling like the power steering wheel fluid is low. It is not. The fluid is full. Someone told me that it could because of air bubble in the fluid. When they replace the hose, they only top off the fluid and do not flush the steering wheel. I am taking mine back to get it flush and will fight them to do it because when I took my car in with bad hose, it didnt shake. Now with the new hose, it shakes like crazy

Does it shake all the time or only in the morning when it is cold? After it warms up, does the shaking go away?

I'm having this exact same issue. When I start the car the power steering doesn't work well making it very difficult to turn the wheel. It loosens up after a few seconds of driving. I've also noticed a whining sound but it isn't that loud. It gets louder when I turn the wheel. The power steering problem difficulty doesn't happen all the time. Last night, after letting the car rest for 4 hours it was the worst it's been, but this morning, after 10 hours of rest I didn't even notice it. I had them take care of the recall last year. 2004 TSX.

Has the drive belt been replaced?

no - I live in the city and haven't had much maintenance done other than oil changes. 75,000 miles. I'm going to take it to a local mechanic, I just want to know enough to not get ripped off. thanks.

Whining or a squealing sound when turning the wheel while the car is not moving or when it's moving slow could be a sign of a bad drive belt. Check to see if there's cracks on the belt & check the auto-tensioner markings that indicate if the belt is out of spec. If it's a drive belt problem, replacing the belt is a $25 part & elbow grease (very much a DIY).

Checked the power steering fluid and it was very low. Odd, I had the recall done a year ago, I wonder if something else is wrong but I didn't see any leaks. You'd think Acura would have checked the fluid when they did the recall, and to lose a lot of fluid in one year seems strange. Well, at least for now it seems like the problem is fixed. I should have checked this before posting, I just thought there was a bigger issue. Thanks all.
