possible cause of passenger door rattle
Hey, I was just looking closely at my doors for speaker wire locations, and I noticed that the passenger door plastic bit just below the triangle piece where the mirror is seems to be a little loose - it is where two pieces "appear" to join together, when the door is closed it will be against the A pillar. I fiddled with it, and the gap between this piece and the metal portion of the door is about 1.5 mm, makes a nice rattle when pushed against the metal portion of the door. Just thought this may go with a prior post by someone who said they adjusted the rubber gasket by the A pillar to get rid of a rattle. I may try to put some felt between the plastic door liner and the metal and see if it helps - I think it will. On another note, if anyone can tell me how to pry off the plastic door threshold (by the aluminum ACURA piece) so I can run some power wire I would appreciate it (maybe a page out of Helm's manual?) - Hope this helps somebody---Brian
I just started reading this board today, after checking out the TSX at the dealer. I find the rattle problem really interesting, as my Integra had the same damn problem for a really long time. (This was also a widely reported problem in the Integras).
The one time I asked the dealer to fix it, it only stayed "fixed" for about a month, then back to the rattle. Finally, I just pulled the entire inside door panels off and made sure anything that moved was secured. In the end, I took a very light foam, kind of like that Dynomat stuff, and wrapped it around my speaker leads. Then I secured it around the leads with wire ties. This solved the problem.
