playing burned cds

I was wondering if everyone else is having a problem playing burned cds in their TSX. I just got mine and it keeps on making static noises. The people at Acura said it was because I play burned cds, but one of my friends just got his TSX too and he has no problem with playing burned cds.

I get that a lot, but I think that my burner is old because it never did it.

I burn at 4x with nero. That's the slowest I can do. Maybe it's the media or the device?

nnd1298, did you confirm that you can play those burned CDs that they also won't play in a home stereo or boombox? ...something other than a PC?

I have a feeling your burned CDs do not have AIFF format (standard audio format) music files. The TSX stock stereo will not play CDs burned with WAV, AAC or MP3, etc files.

Yes, I can play burned CDs with AIFF (AIF) format music files on my TSX.

i've gotten constant static noise with no vocal/music present on burns where i had CD-TEXT checked (in nero) whether i put CDTEXT info in or not. check this setting out on your nero before you burn it.

Be sure your chk the speed on the CD that you used as well... for example... if the speed of the disc can takes up to 4x but you burn the songs by speeding up to 8x then it will cause the static... I had done this before and that explain the cause.

Welcome to the forum!

Yeah I do get a probelm with burned cd's sometimes it skips or does not play at all. But I think it is because of my burning software or old cd burner. I got some new software and new cd/dvd burner so I am going to try it out.

I've had no issues with CDs burnt with Sonic software.

There are tons of variables with burning discs. It may even come down to the burner itself.

just did the nero fix.

I did some research and found this link http://www.cd-burner-help.com/nero-skipping.htm that has the files that are needed to fix the problem. So far so good. I just removed the files and replaced them with the ones in the link. Scroll to the bottom to see the link for the download.

What makes you think that it's manufactured by those companies? I would expect a japanese car to have japanese electronics, like Matsushita or something. I know japanese auto parts companies like Denso make the navi units, so why not the stereos?

it is the burning speed, it is not acura, or alpine or anyone else, its you.

if you try and burn an audio cd at the fastest possible speed vs burning at a slower speed there is going to be difference in quality. i thought everyone knew this but apparently not, if you are having static on your cd than stop burning at the fastest speed.
it depends on the burner and software but some people with prehistoric or so-so quality burners will have more of a problem with this and will need to burn at a slower speed

It can be burn speed, quality of the burner and/or the quality of the cds. Most work in my TSX, while others experience problems, with the only variable being the CD-Rs used.

You know what is funny, the other day I was installing new driver for my computer
and found out that the burner that came with my vaio (pioneer dvd-rw) had a
problem with the firmware that made it sound like static sometimes while the
cd was playing on other sources. I dunno if it is coincidence but it is true. I also fixed the skipping when I replaced the DLL's in nero. I wouldnt take it back. I swear I
have the static problem. Another thing is the burner I have is also in HP computers too. Maybe you have the same burner.

My son's 04 TSX wouldn't play the burned CDs properly. At first I got the line about burned CDs, so I put them in his mom's 04 TSX and they worked fine. I explained this to the service rep. and he replaced the player under warranty; it works fine. It nice to have 2 of the same exact cars.

Glad you got it fixed! I've had zero problems with playing burned CD's in my '04. I'm pretty sure that our players are Pioneer units - one of the Acura mechanics told me that, but I'm adding a USA Spec adapter soon, and I'll see if the unit has any brand markings. The rear deck 6x9 speakers are Pioneers. I believe the add-on MP3 player is also a Pioneer. FYI jswim99 - Pioneer and Alpine are both Japanese companies.
