Question Overall Happiness

I'm taking delivery of my 2004 silver 6M/T this week. After having read through a lot of the problems with the car I am a little concerned. The question I have for everyone experiencing problems is this:

Given these problems are you happy or unhappy with your purchase of the TSX?

I have the exact car you are getting ... for me the few rattles will be fixed, and the other 99% of the car is pure joy to drive ... congrats on your new TSX

I took delivery of a 6sp/MT 2 days ago. I also was very concerned about the rattle issue, and sent 2 emails to the dealer prior to delivery to check the stereo thoroughly. When I picked the car up, the bass was set to max., so whoever prepped the car likely checked it out. I drove ~400km so far, not a rattle or any other problem. What a nice car...I am really impressed and happy. I do not mimimize the problems people have reported, but we are probably seeing some type of selection for problems with the posts - happy people may be less likely to post messages. Good luck with your car.

I'm diggin mine...I drive on shitty roads daily, if there's not a hole, there's a bump. I also rip the stereo heavily. No rattles, no problems...I almost feel guilty saying that.

I've had my TSX for two months now and have around 3000kms on it. I've had no problems whatsoever, and it's as tight as the day I picked it up. The more I drive it, the more I enjoy it.

I've had my TSX since May 21st, I seem to have a lot of little problems like rattling, vibrations, and a CD changer that eats CDs! I have 3 CDs that are jammed in there.

All in all, I am not too pleased with the quality of my TSX. My CR-V doesn't have these problems and it already has 37k miles. I don't know why....I thought the TSX and Acuras in general should have superb craftmanship, maybe I was wrong.

there is a definite benefit-cost analysis: you get the joy of owning the first generation of a well-engineered car built on an excellent platform. but at the same time, there might be a couple of kinks that need to be worked out over the life of the model. like rattles.

i love mine. i have yet to experience any rattles, but if i get any, i won't stress too much about it.

My CG QZ/AT/NAV, # 13110, has 2500 miles on it and has had zero problems to date (knock on forehead). It's pretty much broken in now and seems to be getting smoother every day.

There's no doubt the TSX is a great car and you will definently be happy with it. But I think most of agree or hope anyway that the rattles some of us are experiencing are because its a first model year car.

My advice, if ay all possible is to wait until the 05's begin arriving or are being delivered to see if these problems have been rectified.

I'm certainly guilty of making serveral huge fusses over the vibrations/rattling/squeaking in my TSX. Some of them have been fixed (dash+window rattle, rear headliner rubbing), some have pretty much gone away (driver doorlock buzzing), and one is new (steering column creaking when turning at slow speed).

But as much of a whiny, anal-retentive owner as I am, I love and enjoy this car immensely, and have had zero electrical or mechanical problems. I honestly couldn't have expected anything better in terms of overall quality unless I had gone for a Lexus LS or the like (which is WAY out of my price range).

So what I can gather is that the problems that those who participate in the forums complain of are problems that any new car may have.

The overwhelming opinion is that every one loves their TSX despite all these problems I see being discussed. If you think about that for a minute you realize that there must be something very special about this model. People have been to the dealer on 3 occasions within the 1st year of ownership and they still rave about the car from a driving perspective.

Either that or you are all lunatics.

This is entirely possible

PS - To put your sig in permenantly, go to "user cp" then "edit profile" and put it in signature. Sorry if you already know this, but after quoting you I noticed your typing in your sig.

This is very similar to the problems that BMW has. If you go on the Bimmerfest forums you'll notice a lot of complaints about rattles and squeaks. The general consensus is that the more complex a car is, the more prone it is to these squeaks and rattles. BMW and MB have some really strangely engineered pieces that you'd sware that Rube Goldberg invented them. The TSX is bound to have some of these issues especially in it's first model year but I'm sure either the community or Acura will come up with a solution eventually.

Just be greatful that we're complaining about rattles and nothing more serious.

Just to be clear, the dealer was not able to fix the front doorlock buzzing/rattling. I don't know of anyone who's claimed to find a bona fide solution to that little issue.

They were able to fix the tapping type of rattle on the passenger side, where the dash was rubbing against the front windshield whenever I hit a bump. It was just a matter of putting some insulating tape in between the two. I've described that in detail on several other threads.

LeMasseHammer,

You mentioned the headliner rattle. I am having the same problem and will be taking the car to the dealership tomorrow. Were they able to fix this one?

I tried posting on this specific subject but got no response since everything else in my car is rattle-free except the headliner (rear area); I think this is where it is coming from. Thanks
