Oil Filter Wrench Fit

I'm not a fan of the universal wrenches, however, I"m curious about the one Acura/Honda sells for our cars. Generally speaking, will these also fit other filters (Fram/Napa/etc)? Or will they only fit the back end of the honda filters?

Thanks

They fit other filters that fit hondas too. Its just a simple cap wrench....its nothing they invented thats new. Being its a honda cap wrench....its a bit more of a PITA to get it to work with some brands...but I have used it with another brand filter before.

Honestly....I would just get a snap-on tools brand cap wrench...and it will work for about anything you run into.

I tried looking on the snap on website and couldn't find the wrench you were talking about. I've tried the adjustable wrenches from autozone, and they're just a pain do to the position of the filter. A cap wrench seems like it would be a lot easier.

Occasionally when the filter is just a little too tight, I use my "band" type filter wrench. Since the filter diameter is smaller then normal, I just used some electrical tape and wrapped it around the band to make it fit better. It doesn't slip and grabs easy.

I have found some cap-wrenches fit filters a bit loose. I place a small strip of paper inside the cap-wrench (between the filter and cap-wrench) makes the fit tighter.

I just use a small adjustable band type oil filter wrench (slip it on one way to remove, flip it over to tighten). It maybe old tech, but hey it works great. Of course I alway remove the passenger side front wheel to gain access to the oil filter so it's all I need.

The oil filter is a PITA to get to on the TSX. I will try removing the passenger wheel the next time to see if that makes it any easier. I also use a universal band type filter wrench.

If you dont have a "honda" cap wrench they will fit loose unless you buy a quality wrench like snap-on makes that have both "levels" more or less. On the smaller honda filters it just slips down to the lower set of notches which is tighter. One of the reasons I swear by the snap on brand cap wrench.
