08 TSX AT hard city driving + A/C

I am currently driving consistently in heavy traffic and city and barely being able to cruise for long periods of time. I am in Toronto and we just went through 2 weeks of almost complete drought with temperatures hovering always around 40 degrees celsius. I got an average of 12.5L/100km on my last tank. I wonder if thats ok. That last tank was on 87 octane, I blast the A/C cause of the heat and I also dont drive particularly economically. Mine is an 08 5 AT.
Can someone give me their numbers under similar circumstances??

Why are you using 87 octane in this car when the owner's manual calls for, if I remember correctly, 91 or above?

I read on this or another forum that 87 octane was okay and my mechanic who services a lot of these cars says its okay occasionally as well. im getting around 18mpg city under quite tedious traffic conditions/blasting AC and with an unefficient mindset. I'm just wondering if anyone has got the same as me and under what conditions.

Well 12.5L/100km is pretty good considering you've had your A/C on and with heavy city driving.
I average about 9L/100km on city-ish driving but A/C not on. So your numbers are fine especially because you're on heavy traffic. Whereas when i drive to work, its pretty free flowing compared.
