Oil Change DIY Question?

I want to change the oil in my 04 tsx. I have those ramps but it looks like it may scrape the front fender when I would try to drive it up the ramps. Any recommendations for solutions for changing my own oil? Also is it easy to locate and change out the oil filter?
Thanks!

If you have thin arms using a ramp will be ok, but if you have thicker arms, it might be hard to reach the oil filter.

You might have to take off the front passenger wheel..

These won't scrape, however the more common ones might, especially more so if you are lowered.

The oil filter is not too hard to get off. You can try using a smaller band wrench, and put the handle behind the exhaust manifold pipe to get leverage on it. Also...definitely get a freezer bag and put it fully around the filter before you start twisting it off by hand. This will save you from a lot of cleanup!

mobile 1 full synthetic, UNLESS your car has miles on it an never ran on synthetic, then just standard amsoil or mobile 1 will do. I say this because standard oil builds up deposits that clog little pours along the way. If you run full synthetic in an engine that has been on standard oil it's whole life it'll clean out these deposits and you'll get leaks

I use Pensoil Plantinum full synthetic. I guess just about any synthetic beats regular oil.

Not quite true - you won't GET leaks by default, but if the use of dnio oil has caused sludge and varnish build-up, then removing those will reveal what may be there already.
It's better you know sooner than later if the seals are not 100%, and there are additives which will recondition the seals to restore them back to as good a condition as possible.
With Honda's (and Japanese engines in general) the tolerances they work to should all but guarantee such as issue.

For a new TSX, what kind of oil is recommended for oil changes? Is it good to start with Synthetic?

First, don't do your first oil change too early. Stay with the maintenance minder until it says the oil change is due. Let the "break-in" oil do its thing. Then, feel free to change it to synthetic, or stay with regular dino oil, your choice. I, and many others on this board, switched to Mobil1 and have been happy with it. You can buy a 5 gal. jug of it at Walmart for around $21, enough for one oil change.

It may cost more (I just got for $5.99 / qt, which is a lot), but I bought RP on-line at shucks.com and picked it up at my local store - no shipping. Shucks also carries in stock I found out.
