Oil change

Watch how far you go between oil changes. The dealer I bought my car from and the owners manual both say you should change the oil at 5K in bad conditions (like the Michigan winter I just drove through) and 10K in good conditions. I checked the dipstick yesterday and the oil was skank ass dirty, so I changed the oil. I think from now on I will change it every 3K. Just thought I'd give a heads up 2 anyone who hasent looked at their oil yet.

fuck the world

I did something like 500, 2000, 5000, 8000, 13K

This last time I ran Mobil 1 from 8000 to 13K and it
looked awful.

I am not doing that again. I am running conventional
Honda or Mobil brand every 3500, with new filter.

I've accumulated 137,000 miles on my Volvo turbo, I've changed the oil with 10W30 Mobil-1 synthetic every 5000 miles exactly as specified in the owner's manual and the car still uses no oil between changes.

Since it's a turbo I thought that just upgrading to synthetic and sticking to the intervals specified by the manufacturer should be good enough. Looks like it was.

I'm not sure I'm a believer in Honda's 10,000 mile oil changes and 20,000 mile filter changes since they aren't the ones who are going to have to pay if the motor wears out after 120,000 miles. I think the extra $300 spent on Mobil-1, filters and crush washers changing the oil and filter every 5000 miles is cheap insurance.

I plan to point my Acura in the direction of Saitama, Japan and change my oil religiously on Sunday....
