Noisy remote or keys around ignition

Hi all!
Anyone have suggestions on dampening the noise from remote or keys hitting the plastic below the car ignition? Anyone have this issue? It seem like the remote hanging from the car key hangs just right that when it swings hits the plastic panel below the car ignition and makes a loud knock.
If there is a thread on this already please show me links. Thanks!

I can't find the thread since the search is all messed up right now, but I saw someone who found this to be annoying and had a fix. He took a piece of black velcro (the soft side, not the side with hooks) and stuck it to the steering column. i'm pretty sure the velcor also had adhesive on the back of it, but I'm not 100% on that. The black velcro is barely noticeable since the steering column is black too. There were pictures. Maybe you can find them. I'd think a 2X2'' square would do the trick and dampen the noise.

You could also keep your key on a leather key fob (www.cross.com has nice ones, often on sale,[1] too), and use your remote separately. Or just have a leather fob hanging next to the remote, and always put the key in such that the fob comes between the remote and the steering column. Just my .

A lot of GM vehicles have a little rubber trim piece on the column just below the key hole. Could be an interesting little DIY if you wanted to do something other than the velcro.

wow more options... ohh the rubber trim with perforations like the steering wheel would be nice... if there is one. if GM don't have them as stick-on then I'll keep looking.
