Hmm, well I've been putting off getting the windshield replaced, but the crack recently started growing, so I guess I'll have to. I called the dealer and they quoted me something in the $400 range just for the glass, then the guy said, "Oh I'm sorry, that's for the TL, for the TSX it's $600+". I was surprised that TSX glass would be so much more than TL glass. Anyway, I'm thinking I may skip the dealer glass and go somewhere else to have it done.

depending on your deductible, go through your insurance. $250 bucks for me... if its not a huge one they'll do it for free, but it sounds too late for that.

Well, the insurance offered to repair it for free. I guess I could go through my insurance, although this happened several months ago, so I don't know if they'd still cover it. I think my deductible is $500, so it would save me some money. However, I was thinking about just going through Safelite, since their website is quoting me under $300 for everything, parts and labor.

Must have been snowy/freezing cold out and you turned on your defroster and heated up your windshield. That usually does it. People get chips in the summer time, park outside in the winter, scrape the windshield off, jump in the car in the morning and heat the windshield up and craaaaaaack!

Sucks! Thank goodness I park in the garage!

Yes, I think you're right. It probably had something to do with the freezing temperatures lately.

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to go with Safelite, since it's been so cold outside and they do their work outside. Will the temperature have any effect on the drying of the sealant?

Well, I went with Safelite. They were much cheaper than the next lowest quote I received. No problems with the service. The guy showed up towards the beginning of the time window I'd selected. He worked very quickly - it took less than an hour altogether. The windshield looks fine - basically identical to the original one except for a little bit of text stamped on the lower right hand corner. It seems like maybe the part where the rear-view mirror attaches to the windshield is a bit looser than it was before and the rear-view seems to jiggle a bit more now - maybe he loosened it by trying to pry it off of the old windshield - but other than that, it seems fine.
