Navi Voice Recognition Problem

Has anyone else had problems with their Navi's voice recognition?

I took delivery of my CG/AT/Navi in July from West Chester Acura in PA. However, from day one the voice recognition never worked.

I'm coming up on my 3rd trip back to the service dept. just to try and fix this issue.

Anyone else have similar problems with theirs?

No prob here. For the most part, as long as I'm in the correct menu for the command, it's been pretty accurate.

Any more trips and your car can technically be declared a lemon (in Cali, at least)

For the most part it works pretty well. Just sucks when you tell it to do something on the radio and it adjusts the AC to 85 during the summer!! Although there are a few radio stations that I just cannot get it to change to with voice...

So does it respond to anything? (car stopped, quiet with you speaking into the ceiling mic.. )

Trip 1- When I first left it at Service to have it 'activated' as they told me, they had problems diagnosing the issue. I was told that their service tech was on the phone to someone in Calif. trying to figure out what was wrong. At the end of that service call they said they would have to order a new 'control unit'. So, I took the car back and waited almost 2 weeks before the part come in.

Trip 2 - Dropped the car off on a Thursday for them to install the new 'control unit'. Called them at 3pm and the Service Guy says that the 'control unit' didn't fix the problem and if it was okay, they'd like to keep the car another day. I told them I was going away for the weekend and they said just keep the loaner for Fri/Sat/Sun.
I call them on Monday afternoon because no one called me back...they said their tech was working on it right now. (WTF did they do on Friday?)

They then proceed to tell me that it is a microphone problem. Wouldn't common sense say if voice rec. isn't working, you would have checked the mic first and not order a new navi unit?

Anyway, the part is on order and they should get it on Tuesday. So they say keep the loaner another day and say I can pick my TSX up on Tuesday after they install the mic.

Tuesday comes around, I get a call around 2pm saying the mic they were shipped is defective and they'll have to order another mic.

By now I'm totally pissed... I say that I'm picking my car up at 4pm and we'll schedule another appointment after you get a new mic AND you test that its not another 'broken' mic. I get there at 4:15 and the car isn't ready or washed. I just take it without the wash. Pretty aggravating.

Trip 3 - Coming next Tuesday.

Keep in mind that this dealership is like 30 miles away from my work/home.

Sorry for the long-winded post. So, is this typical for Acura Service?

My SSM TSX worked perfectly until I had the dealer put a Fabric sealer in the car. After that I can only get the commands to work about 25% of the time.

This must be one of the most annoying problems in the world.
