my new tint causing problems?

i just got 20% tint and since the install, im having some navi issues.....the film was called titanium somthing..and said it was top of the line that he had.....after the install, the navi has hard time tracking my car, and totally gets lost....but then somthings its okay....i contacted the tint guy..and he said..it should go away in couple of days.....

is this thing going to go away? maybe its the navi having issues...not the tint? should i talk to the tint guy again?l

i doubt it would go way, i mean in like three days four days my windows cleared up, they looked like they were cloudly/wet. and they cleared up n basically settled. im pretty much happy w. mine but i dont have navi. almost all of the radio stations work, i mean maybe the far ones got toned down but im not really bothered by it... but if i were you, i dont think waiting is going to do you very much good, its the metal in the tint thats blocking your antenna for your navi in ure back window, have him take it off n tell him you want one w.o metal, ceramic tint is the best/most expensive, dyed tints will fade, metal seems to be the middle (correct me guys if im wrong). honestly, if he knew u had navi n didnt warn you id be pissed but tell him it still doesnt work and you arent very happy. if hes a small shop and refuses to fix it, threaten to pass a bad name around and go to another guy, yeah itll cost you more but itll probablly cost you the same if hes choosing to charge u more to fix it.

but if hes a small shop type guy im sure to keep the customer happy hell redo it, free or free labor

>> the film was called titanium somthing..

sounds like metallic tint then. I wouldn't have taken the chance but have you done some research to see if metallic tint won't mess up the nav ?

I got 15% FormulaOne Ceramic Tint and all my functions on fine. It had no effect on my navi, radar, radio, and tv reception.

I heard Ceramic tint is the only tint with out metal that won't fade. It was more expensive though. I think I paid $255 for the 2 back doors and rear window.

This is correct. Metal tint causes a problem for the navi. How much of a problem will really vary from area to area (depending on GPS reception) and apparently in some cases will vary with different batches of tint material and between different navi antennas. There is always some degradation of the navi signal with a metal tint and it's hard to predict just where and when it will get bad enough to really screw things up.

Man, I'll definitely have to make sure that the tint I put on won't interfere with my navigation.

Unhappy tint/navigation issue

hello

your "navi" antenna is built into the rear glass...............

as it basically works on radio frequency, any "metal" or "metallic " particles in tinting will scramble/block the incoming frequency,to one level or another.......LOTS of owner's with this issue for sure.

(some brands of tint much worse than others)

couple buddies now have useless navigation systems due to this problem!!!!
(i warned them)

good luck getting the stuff off as well.

Navi antenna is in the rear package shelf, not the window. The FM antenna is etched into the window.

Metallic tint on your windows creates a "Faraday cage" effect (especially when combined with the metal skin and frame of the car) preventing the radio waves from entering the vehicle. The result is reduced navi sat signal.
