My interior trim is dented, what can I do?

I dropped something on my interior trim next to the shifter and dented it. It's certainly not the end of the world, but I'd like to do something about it if I can since the car is less than 1 month old.

There is a slight glare so the dent doesn't look as noticable as it does in person:

My first thoughts are to simply replace that piece of trim. However, I can't find indivdual pieces of trim listed at www.acuraparts247.com.
I do see trim "kits" listed in the ACCESSORIES - INTERIOR section, but I don't want to have to buy an entire kit for such a small blemish.

Does anyone know if I can buy just the trim piece that surrounds the shifter?

If not, does anyone have any tips where I can look to figure out how to repair it? I mean, there must be some sort of plastic filler or epoxy or something that I can jam in there and sand/paint or whatever?

I know it's nothing major and I can live with it as is. I just want to give an honest effort to fix it since the car is so new.

Thanks!

Although itl hurts to look at, things like that are going to happen. If you end up replacing it and then it gets damaged again, you'll be even more frustrated with it.

I would just leave it if I were you. That piece is probably going to be overpriced if you buy it directly from Honda. Try to find a wrecked TSX. Or your idea of filling it and painted it is not bad. Just try to find a perfect match. You could maybe even take the piece out and bring it into the hardware store and ask them to try to match.

Agreed. However, if I could get just that panel for like $20-$30, I'd be happy to pay it now. If this happens 6 months from now when the car is more worn, I'm sure it'll be easy for me to overlook it.

Yep. The thing is, I have no idea how to work on plastic. I was hoping someone might have some tips or know websites or whatever that can give me some idea how to fix it. Maybe be able to give some idea how to fill it, what to use to paint it, how to smooth it out and mix it in with the surrounding plastic? I have a feeling I just can't sand plastic.

I'm not that desperate. I'd do it if I dented a few more different sections.

You can hardly notice that! I doubt your passengers will notice it either! Just be more careful next time

Good find SSN_FT1!
You should get the part number and try to get a quote from one of the Ebay sellers. They might be able to give you a better price. I'm not sure, but it's worth a try. Good luck.

My car came with 3 chips in the paint (that seem to be increasing in mass) as well as 2 light scratches in the paint that are 3-5 inches long and a passeneger side window with 5-8 scratches across almost the entire window. There are also pieces of adhesive everywhere that the dealer claims is very difficult to remove (even though the cars on their showroom had no adhesive residue). The car was dirty enough when I took delivery that I didn't notice all of these flaws. I drove 5.5hrs one way to pickup the car and wasn't about to wait there a few hours for them to detail the car before I drove 5.5hrs home. When I washed it off the next day I noticed the flaws.

What am I going to do? I'm going to have a local detailer work on the car to remove all of those flaws as well as other problem areas where the dealer tried to touch up chips and basically just made a mess wet sanding. This guy will also remove all the swirl marks. It'll be well worth the $200 if the detailer can get the car exterior looking the way a new car should look upon delivery. The only thing the detailer doesn't think he can handle is the scratched window. I'll probably have to go through my insurance company to get that replaced.

You're probably thinking I'm one of those guys who complains about everything and is never happy. That would be exactly 100% wroing I'm the opposite type of person. I'm normally very laid back and care free. For instance, a few weeks ago my 9+ year old toyota paseo got rubbed at a red light as I was in it. I didn't even get out to look at the damage until a cop came tapping on my window to let me know someone hit me. I said "yeah, I know, I don't care", then the cop went away.

I called the general manager (I received a standard "thank you" letter stating to call him if I'm unsatisfied in any way) of the dealership to tell him about the flaws and ask if there was anything they can do. His only solution was to bring it back so they can detail again. I don't think the paint can take anymore of their "detailing" so I opted to do nothing. I understand things happen and I was prepared for a problem like this since the car was far enough away that I couldn't physically inspect it before finalizing the deal.

My point is, I haven't bought a new car in a long time. Even with all the flaws this one came with, I don't have 1 ounce of buyers remorse. That's awesome, especially since I always have at least some doubts after making a major purchase. So basically I'm feeling good about my new car and want it to look new and undamaged for as long as possible.

Is this interior dent minor? Of course it is. I said it was, if you bothered to read my initial post. It does look much more noticable in person, but it's still nothing to lose sleep over. However, that doesn't mean I don't want to make at least some nominal effort to correct it.

Thanks for your helpful comments though.

Oh man, that's great! Buying just that one piece is exactly the solution I was looking for.

I stared at that console diagram and didn't notice the trim piece towards the right. It should have easily caught my since the shifter boot is right above it.I'm going to bang my head on the wall for a while for not looking at this diagram more closely the first 5 times I viewed it.

Thanks for the help!
