my car got scratched

well i was parked in the lot of a restaurant and when i got back i noticed some brown stuff along the driver side passenger door. it is sorta hard to explain and i dont have access to a camera right now but its near the lower middle of the door and at the edge of it and goes from there to the rear fender near the wheel well. upon closer inspection it looks like its some kinda rust and ithought the stuff was scratched into my car but when igot home i was able to scratch some of it off so im guessing its just that stuff on top of my paint. ill try to get pix later. the thing is i cant tell if my car was scratched deep into the paint and i dont wanna pick at it if it is. im so pissed right now i have no emotion but i wanna ask everyone if they know of anything that might take the stuff off so that i can see whether i want to repaint it or not, i have a pwp btw and was wondering what are some painting options? will dealerships do it with the exact same paint as acura uses on the car? i dont want to go to some painter and have mismatching colors....im going to cry

Try buffing it with polish or try a touch-up pen.

Dude that sucks. It depends on how deep the scratch is in deciding what type of wax or compound you need to use. If you were able to take it off with your finger, I don't think it's too deep. I think any reputable body shop can color match the PWP but see if your dealer can recommend a body shop.

Try a clay bar first before using a rubbing compound.

Another vote for the clay bar.

thanks for the tips guys, i went out and got a brand spankin new clay bar and well it really is clay magic about 98% of the junk came off after some scrubbin and luckily it didnt scratch into the paint to bare metal but there are 2 pretty deep scratches into the clear coat. man do i feel so much better now! anyways, any suggestions on the scratches? i dont think they are as deep as to be into the paint but im paranoid and want something to make sure the paint in that area doesnt rust over or get damaged. thanks guys!
