Muffler Joint exhaust leak
Muffler Joint exhaust leak
On my daughters 2006 TSX I noticed a louder than usual muffler / exhaust noise (Of course she doesn't notice it) . Turns out that exhaust was leaking out at the joint that connects 2 pipes right after the catalytic converter.
Is there a gasket between these pipes? Has anybody had this issue did you do your own DIY?
Thanks

first, you need to assess the situation.
since, we cannot see or inspect the underside of the car, you'll need to figure out if it's a hole, if its seeping through the gaskets, if the catalytic converter failed, or if the welds/bolts have came loose.
at EVERY joint, there is a gasket.
so, it may be as simple as replacing said gasket, or tightening up some bolts.
if there's a hole, you'll need to get it welded shut

I just had emissions tested and it passed which tells me the catalytic converter is good.
It's seeping through where the two pipe plates mate, bolts look pretty rusted probably better off letting an independent shop mechanic take care of it.
