I got a letter from Acura to tell me to get my headlights replaced because of condensation. I want to do it, but... I have tint film on my corners. Can Acura reimburse me for that?

 

no acura will not reimburse you for anything aftermarket

 

First off they will only replace the headlights if there is moisture inside of them. If not, they add some clips to the top of the lenses to keep your original lights from leaking.......In my experience Honda/Acura will not reimburse you for modifications on a Warranty/Recall/Product-update issue.

I just got mine last week. Seems they were distributed at different times.

 

I have an 04 and haven't gotten this letter. Then again, my OEM headlights (just swapped in for JDM) never had a single problem, so I'm not worried about it.

 

I don't think all 04 were affected.

I got my headlights replaced on my 05 auto. I'm happy cuz my old headlights had the clearbra on it, but i peeled it off and it left all this glue residue which i couldn't get all off. nothing like shiney new headlights . they also replaced the HID igniter(1) , gasket seals(2), & control unit assembly(2). no idea what the last one is. i also got my fuel pump relay replaced. and i got my sunroof fixed because it was squeaking when the sunroof cover(not the glass) was fully opened. they cleaned and installed anti squeek reduction tape to the opening. i'm happy. and a 07 rental.

 

Depending on your past condensation problems, you might not get you headlights replaced from the dealer. I only had clips added to the tops of my headlights.

 

Do you think they know if you got into an accident and got new headlights before you brought it in?

 

i had the headlight replaced on my 06 tsx free but unfortunately they did not put the bumper back on properly. the passenger side fog light is full of water and the driver side is now cracked. the bumper now sticks out by the headlight. next time i take my car for service I will get those things fixed. despite the problems the service department has been excellant in the past
