So you turned the car on (not starting the car), while pushing the trip counter done for about 15sec?

The procedure for getting the light to stop blinking has never failed to work for me. I just used it during the weekend, as a matter of fact. Might be worth rereading the instructions and trying again.
One note: If you keep the reset button depressed for just a second or two after the Maintenance Required light stops flashing, the button performs its other function, resetting the trip odometer. I use the trip odometer all the time, so resetting it unintentionally is an annoyance.

you have to do a manual reboot to your sensors that show up on your dashboard.

1-turn off your car
2-go to your battery & remove the -negative side cable(leave the + on the battery).
3-take the negative side cable of your car that you took off & put it together on the +positive side of the battery for 10 sec-12sec.
4-put everything back as it was..and turn on the car.

that should turn off your Xmas lights & restart your sensors.

a trick i learned when i lived in Dominican Rep.

ps: if your negative side "Battery cable" can't reach your positive side?....just add a 6in" piece of wire so it can reach that +pole.

Yea, it does that when holding it down for that long. It's a function to help with mild temperature discriminations.

do read the manual .. it tells you what to do. but change the part where it says to turn the car on ( position 2) to actually starting the car. then continue on the rest. i've ran into the same problem and the service advisor guy did the same thing but started the car instead and that resolved the issue.

Whatever you do, don't do this.

Connect ground to the positive lead ... have someone call EMS first, then you're ready to start.

guys it works....what you're doing is putting both cables on the positive side of the battery for 10sec.(negative side pole will be empty) which means, he & his car will be safe.

-doing that it will beboot the sensors(Xmas lites) on dash board.

i have a rent-a-car back home and i do it to all my cars if needed.

That has to be the worst advice I have ever read on this board. Why would you risk frying all of the onboard electronics when all you have to do is follow the instructions in the manual.

BTW, if you have an OwnerLink (AcuraLink) account you should be able to get a PDF of the owner's manual from there.

Aside: have never seen the owner's manual download on AcuraLink. Can you provide a bread crumb trail?

You have to be registered, and you have to specify the year and make of your car. The VIN is not necessary for this, but it's nice to have on there because you can retrieve your radio code if you lose it. On the top navigation bar, click Model Information. Then on the left hand navigation bar it should be the first option. I registered before I bought the car just so I could read the OM cover to cover.

If you completely disconnect the battery cables (both cables, just to be safe) and short them together, you drain all the capacitors in every control unit in the car. There's absolutely nothing unsafe about it, but you will have reset the radio/navi/clock and the PCM will have to relearn it's idle parameters.

That said, you shouldn't have to do the above to reset the maint. reqd light. Make sure you follow the owners manual instructions exactly, and make sure the parking/ headlights are off.
