Angry Leather seats cracking

is anyone experiencing their leather seats peeling? Its only been 6 months for me since i've got the car and already the driver side back rest is peeling. This is pissing me off big time, i wonder if it is real leather. So this week, they're gonna take it in to upholstry it. Ugh, im so sick.

Have you been treating your leather with some type of protectant? I would suggest doing this regularly, especially on the drivers seat.

The only part of the seats that are real leather are the preforated parts. (Middle of seats and backs, shift knob, door panels) Everything else (seat sides, armrest, door armrest, most of back seat, head rests are faux leather) The head rests are not leather, not sure if thats the part on your car thats peeling? I think this is the first we've heard of this problem. I have over 16k miles on the car and the seats are fine. I have treated them in the past with cleaner and conditioner though its been awhile since I've done that.

I used Lexol at least once a month . . . . .

As posted you might take this up with the dealer, but I am not sure how far you will get on a replacement.

I had a small crack appear on the driver's seat bottom (front/side section) of my CL. The dealer replaced the entire lower seat cover under warranty, even though I had exceeded the mileage, but not the four-year time limit. You should be covered.

Since July, i've only cleaned the seats once. with good quality leather cleaner from this store that every detailer gets their products from, but anyways, tomorrow it will go into the shop and they said they send it out somewhere to change the whole back rest. Man if they screw it up, they better replace the whole seat. I dont wanna have two-tone black seats. Ugh that would kill me. I'll keep you guys inform.

Ez....I'd be soooooooooooooo pissed if my seats started falling apart on such a new car. And........all of those leather treatment products don't need to be used so soon, maybe after a year or so when the leather needs it. The damn leather is still New for Gods sake!
Good luck with getting a good match after the repair.

Johnny,

Just because leather is new does not mean it needs to be neglected. That is not a good approach. Regardless of the leather's age, it needs to be cleaned and conditioned monthly.

Ok, there's so much written about what people do to leather. Is it really necessary to use those products so often? Some of those are somewhat expensive, especially if you use them up in a couple of months. What's the "minimum" I can do that most efficiently preserves it? I'm not used to having leather.

Proo,

Lexol twins are a very good combination of products. I agree with you, that they are pricey at $10 a peice. However, it's important to take into consideration that very little product needs to be used every time it's applied. Same logic as many automotive chemicals: many thin layers is better than a thick layer for say.

All in all, if you purchase the twins, and use them regularly, it will last you a very long time, making it more cost effective.
