leather seat/rattle sound!
leather seat/rattle sound!
Hello,
I have 2 issues/questions.
First of all, my driver's side seat cover looks like COMPLETE crap at 25k miles on my 07 TSX w/ navi. I'm going to have the dealership look at it, but should they say it's "normal wear and tear," what would having the dealership replace the bottom seat cover cost? Does anyone know what the cover itself, plus the labor would cost?
Secondly, I have this intermittent rattle coming from the steering wheel column. It seems to do it more so when the interior of the car is cold, but once it warms up, it seems to go away. Is this a common issue? If so, is this something I could fix easily? I will have the dealership look at this also, but we all know how well they "can duplicate issues."
Thanks!
Jeff

Did you have to argue with them, or were they pretty easy going about replacing it? How bad did it look?

i have said this before and i'll say it again - tsx "leather" is some of the junkest "leather" out there. the ones who are lucky enough to have "good" looking leather probably have mediocre leather at best.
the rest of us who's seats look like its cracking/fading/tearing have no real recourse. i showed my car to my dealer and the service advisor said that looks like normal wear/tear. really? i showed them the seat when it had ~15,000 miles on the car (i have a little over 22K now). i'm 5' 10" 170lbs so its not me. i don't wear jeans too often, i don't slide in/out of the seats, i clean/condition the seats at least every 2 weeks and yet, after 1.5 years of ownership, the seats look like its been neglected for 10 years.
my service advisor said that at best, they'd have to have an american honda agent come down and inspect the seat to see if they'd cover it under warranty. its an uphill battle...

The dealer replaced it without any problems or having to deal with corporate to get their approval. It also helps that my very good friend is the service manager.
