I've tried everything! Shaking steering wheel

around 50mpg my steering wheel starts shaking. i've had my wheels balance by 2 different places and aligned TWICE now and it still shakes. i'm lowered on koni's and neuspeed sports. PLUS....i have the hubcentric rings installed.

I have 18" adr's 225/40/18

I'm am STUMPED!!! The only thing I can think of is that all my wheels are bent? but they are brand new?

does it shake when you have your oem wheels on there? that should help determine if its your car/alignment.

if your wheels are bent I would think the balancing would've told you whether they were straight or not. how heavy is the shaking? usually its caused by a lack of hub rings, but you said you have them, are they the right size?

thats the rim and tire size i changed to and my steering wheel shoke also, im back on stock rim and tires now. Shop told me lower profile tire absorb less road bumps, and wider surface grab road more than what the car, steering is designed for, thus the vibration, but you shouldnt get vibration at just 50 mph.. wheel bent or u bought a bad batch?

Thats pretty good gas mileage.

I've heard stories of cars that continued to shake at speed with aftermarket wheels on. All the balancing in the world didn't solve the problem.

when they balanced your wheels they should have been able to tell if they were bent or not. make sure the truest wheels are on the front of the car.

The tire or wheel might not be round. Try what jigga said and swap the rears to the front.

i tried something today and went out for a quick drive. I raised my perches one up so now i'm running the stock perch height on the front and -1 on the back. Also my buddy was installing the drivers side and when I checked the alignment of the spring to the little dent on the koni, it was off. So I straightened that out and it seems to have solved the problem. When I go to work tommorow I will let everyone know.

A set of properly balanced non-defective tires/wheels with the correct hub-centric rings should not shake at all even at very high speed. Btw, what lug nuts did you use?

i'm using muteki lug nuts. The problem did not go away with the suspension reinstall. I moved the front wheels to the back and that basically solved the problem. so one of my wheels are probably bent.

Another question I had was, is it normal for my lugs to only screw in about 3/4's of the way onto the stud?

where did you go to get them balanced? was it a reg balancing machine or a road force? most places also do not calibrate their machines regularly so that may be a problem also.

How do you know if the wheels/tires are defective or off center before installing them?

Are your brake rotors warped? Mine were warped, it would start shaking at highway speeds.

A road force balance will indicate the problem.
