If you're happy and you know it...
OK, I am looking to buy a TSX. I see all of these "problems" such as rattles and whistles and missing oil and feel like maybe I should wait til '05 (dang thats a long way off).
SO, lets try this another way. Are there any TSX owners out there who have had NO problems with their car?

I keep seeing these threads so i will give you my .02$. I have had my TSX since May with over 15"K miles on it now.
When the weather is cold the windshield/dash area makes a clicking sound when the car goes over hard bumps. its not a complaint, really. just a minor issue. i am sure it is easily fixed at that.
i love the car and have zero regrets about the purchase...
would i wait till 05 model? hell no! that is a long wait -- and whos to say any changes would even be made on the production line? for all you know, after the wait, you could still get an identically manufactured TSX in 05. Life is too short, buy the car and enjoy life.
thats my story and i'm sticking to it.

If you take all of the "concerns" or "problems" people have in totality, sure it looks bad.
I have never had an oil issue and although I do have some rattles, for the most part, I'm not concerned about them.
This car is so sweet and so nice. The engine is one of the best Honda has ever built as far as tolerances and quality. It is a sweet engine, a sweet car and waiting may not give you anything more or anything better.
You'll have to decide how much you want the car. Personally, if you can't make up you mind, don't do anything. That method has the least amount of risk, but coincidentally has the least amount of reward.
I'm very happy with my purchase since June and don't regret one second of owning this car. Most (not all) of us on this forum are just perfectionists and have made honestly small things sound terrible. Ferrari, Lotus, BMW, Mercedes, Fords, Chevys, etc have rattles too.

I put the same question to everyone about three weeks ago before I bought my car.
1 out 15 people said that it was a mistake. The rest love their car despite the problems.
So, knowing the problems discussed in the forums, I went out and bought the car anyways. And you know what... I have some of the very problems I read about.
My first suggestion for you... stop reading the car problems and fixes forum... now!
I get in my car and look for the problems I read about. If I was unaware of the issues I wouldn't notice half of them. The other half, well... let the warranty take care of that.
On the whole (provided the dealer will fix any major problems) in what other car are you going to find the same fun, practicality and value?

I have over 8k miles on mine, with no problems other than the speaker buzz. I turned the bass down to -2 and no more buzz. I still feel like I got a great deal on a great car, even though I paid MSRP.

Trust your inner instinct. If you feel this is the right car you like, go ahead. Don't even hesitate! Start with a test drive or whatever next you want to try before purchase.
Good lucks and hope to welcome you on board soon!

This is the last reasurance post I'm doin. I have 3800 miles on my TSX now and no problems whatsoever. No rattles, no whistles, no nothing. I do rip the stereo pretty hard and my rearview mirror shakes, but no big issue with me, I look out the windshield mostly. I'll admit I don't listen to rap and hip hop so I can't comment on the rattle issue for those pumpin the bass to the hilt. Overall I'd say it's an impressive piece.

Thanks everyone for your input. I will sleep on it. Maybe for about 9 months, we'll see. I do want to test drive again and pay very close attention to details. Hopefully I wont have a chatty dealer along for the ride. Thanks again.

First of there aren't "all of these problems". Oil issues only affect a hand full of people. And rattles and whistles are minor for most owners. I had one rattle but its gone now. No problems here. My tsx is already over 14k and I loved every mile.

Some great responses guys. Agreed that you shouldn't dwell in the Car Problems & Fixes area unless you're looking up something specific about your car. Now that I've ironed out most of my rattles issues, I'm definitely in the "happy and you know it" camp
I just drove back from lunch today on some backroads, pumping the tunes (Disturbed) and giving VSA a workout, and the grin is still tatooed on my face

Don't listen to me.
Bought the car in August. I liked it then and love it now. I don't have any rattles and have an extra 500 watts rms of Bass. No problems and no issuse except that I can't same money fast enough to get upgrades. (Headers, exhauste, intake, springs, sway bar, rims and tires,... Damm that is a lot of money to save!). But even without the mod it an awsome ride.

Bought our TSX Aug 21. It has about 8600km on it now. No rattles, no squeaks. Quiet and smooth. I do have the rough/sliding seat problem, that is being fixed Friday under warranty. So far, I'm pleased. No regrets.

I just picked mine up 3 weeks ago, only 500+ miles, and other than the slight whistle on the driver's side window, no problems. (Early yes, but still...) Every car, especially first model years, have problems, but you have to look at the glass as half full sometimes. The car is amazing. Positives far outweigh the one negative.
I traded in a 00 Maxima, and the TSX is so much more refined and enjoyable to drive. I tried the 325xi, A4, and Passat, none of those, IMO, had the awesome shock value and "good feel" like the TSX. Keep test driving and see what happens. Like an earlier post said, trust your instinct.

The worst problem I've had is that the windshield washer jets were pointed too low. Easily fixed (for free) at my first service stop.
The thing about reading peoples' problems is: you can't tell how many people DON'T have problems. I'm willing to bet that even rattles (seems to be the biggest complaint) is a minority issue. And that minority with a problem will always be more vocal than the majority who have nothing bad to say.
If you like the car, buy it. If you're unsure, look elsewhere. I think you'll find that every car out there has its share of "issues".

I think that was my goal. To get the quiet and satisfied people to speak up. I think a good number of y'all have done so. Thanks.
I put my 97 Civic on the market today. Hopefully it will sell soon and I will be one of the people who can sign their posts like this:
