How quiet is your TSX?
My TSX was damn noisy with the Audio off, i can hear wind noises and cars passing by even when I am driving 40mph on a normal road. Is that normal? I remeber I can hear this much of wind noise when I test drove one, maybe I forgot. Any comment? If this is not normal, I am thinking of taking this back in to change the rubber seal....

Mine is generally very quiet. Not much wind noise at all, at city or highway speeds. Even cross winds don't seem to make much noise. It's not silent, though - I hear a bit of road noise from the tires, esp around town on rough asphalt. The road noise is very likely accentuated by feeling the roughness through the wheel as well.

Seriously, my TSX is really quiet, much more so than the '97 Civic EX I traded in. I can whisper to my wife and be heard easily, and the wind noise seems very muffled. I suspect a seal problem.

But the motor and suspension are very controlled and quiet.
I just wish the cabin was quieter at cruising speeds. Perhaps the TL is more sound deadened.
just because this emoticon freaks me out... I had to place it here.

The TSX is quiet, but i've notice that the 03 accord is quieter. Can some verify this?

Noise perception is a very subjective and multi-factorial thing. A physicist would say, just get a decibel meter or whatever, and measure the noise -- but IMO that would miss the point. I say that different people might rate the exact same noise level differently, depending on a lot of things. For example, suppose you go into a restaurant where it's a little bit "lively" and you like how it is in there -- you probably won't think it's "noisy," you might not notice any noise at all. But if you don't like how it is in there, you'll think, "Hey, it's noisy in here, let's get the hell out of here."
I test drove the new Accord, and I like it a lot overall, but not nearly as much as the TSX. And I don't know what a decibel meter would show, but I can tell you that subjectively, my sense was that the TSX is distinctly quieter. But you know, that's not really it either. It's really very much like the restaurant analogy -- I like the TSX sound (or lack thereof, when there's no perceptible sound), because I love the car so much. The perception of the sound is influenced by the feeling you have from the environment. "Noise" is a bothersome thing, and if you love the environment and the quality of the sound, you won't perceive much if any "noise."
BTW -- My guess about what a decibel meter would show: TSX just a little quieter most of the time and on the average -- but with a wider range of decibel levels, with the noise level at certain times being a bit higher than it would ever become in the Accord. But mostly it's different types of sound and different types of overall sensation.

BTW -- another one of those things that isn't the most important thing in the world: It's easy to wind up re-posting the same post. After you do a post, if you go "back" and then "forward," sometimes the same post gets re-posted. I don't know exactly what makes it happen -- sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. People have made fun of it indirectly sometimes, but I don't think anyone has ever identified it as a site problem.
And I'm not going to either.
Nor am I going to get to upsset over peaple's speeling.

I had to do a double take at those numbers. TSX is quieter, across the board.
I'm a little surprised -- it goes against my basic sense of the two cars, although not much.
Realize, though, this still might not tell the entire "decibel story" -- it's possible that there are indeed conditions under which the TSX decibel level is higher than anything that comes out of the Accord. In fact, I'd still bet on it.
But it's not "noise," it's MUSIC!
P.S. Hey, mtnkill, what ARE you, a physicist or something??

Nope, not a physicist, just recalled reading about DB levels somewhere before and went hunting for them. Thanks for the kudo's though...

I also think the TSX is very quiet. It took me a while to get used to it. With my 99 Accord, I knew when to upshift by listening to the engine. With the TSX, I watch the tach.

How is everyone's idle noise? I hear this ever so slight whistleing noise emmitting from the firewall area. Anyone else experiance this?
Also noticed the exhaust note in between 3.5Krpm shifts...sounds very nice and mellow.

Today i was travelling on the feeway and could heard that the wind is leaking in from the left passenger or driver's side door. Anyone had this problem, and how it was fixed? I had an appointment with Acura on Wednesday to try look at it. I heard buzzing sound on the door panel sometimes, is that consider rattles?
