home link doesnt work

We've tried everything and cant get our Homelink garage door opener to work. We've been thru the directions front and back and the damn thing still doesnt work. We have a two year old Genie "excelerator" opener and any advice would be great. Thanks

I dont remember if the Homelink.com site had the info or not, but there was a list of garage door openers that simply did not work.

Our opener has rolling codes so there is another procedure to make Homelink work. Press the "training" button on the main garage opener unit and within 30 seconds follow the other procedure of pushing the Homelink button for 2 seconds, maybe as many as three times. The exact instructions are listed on the web site mentioned above. The key is finding the button on the garage door main unit. Ours works great but not until I found that special button on the unit.

Mine works great. The instructions were pretty clear in the manual to me.

Yea, if you have a newer opener, you have to use the rolling code procedure.

mine works fine also after a few tries but I have a friend who owns a 2003 bmw and he can't seem to get it to work. The dealer told him that it does not work on all garages especially the newer model door, what ever that meant but they wanted him to buy a part for it..

Maybe his opener is FWD?
