High pitched noise when first start driving

I have a '07 with about 15k miles. For the last few months whenever I first start the car and begin driving forward I head a high pitched noise similar to a brake sensor squeal that goes away after 200 ft or so. It only occurs driving forward and does not occur with braking. It does not happen every time and seems to happen more when the cars been sitting for more than a few hours. It sounds like its coming from one of the passenger side wheels.

Does anybody have any ideas? The dealership couldn't reproduce the sound when I brought it in and the brakes checked out ok.

wheel bearing, axles, brakes rubbing?? Put the car on jack stands and let it drive.

Most likely culprit is the brakes. Do you put the parking brake on when you park?

You might want to have the cable checked out then. Sounds like it could be sticking a bit.

Sounds quite possibly like the serpentine belt is loose, but the auto-tensioner should prevent that. Could also be any one of the pulleys it drives (A/C, Alternator, power steering).

If it goes away after a few hundred feet, I wouldn't be too worried about it.

It could also be rust on the brake rotors (they are just cast iron!) that gets scraped away the minute you drive forward, but that usually sounds more like a faint grind as opposed to a squeal.

Bump.

I got the same issue. I checked it with a friend. The high pitched knock comes only when the car is at low rpms and experiences a load on the engine such as turning wheels while the car is stopped and AC is on at the same time. The knock comes from the area where the PS pulley is. I got UR pulleys and I am not sure if they are related to the issue. The car has 31k miles on it.

Any other ideas ?

valteraj -- did you get a new, different-sized belt when you put the UR pulleys on? You cannot reuse the OEM stock sized belt as it's too big.

I use the stock belt and I am not the only one. I believe lcrazyaznl or somebody else used the stock belt with UR pulleys. It lasted less than it was supposed to, but it worked.

It's your belt slipping then. Get a new belt of the proper size and it should be resolved. I'd bet your tensioner isn't within the acceptable range right now, either, so you might want to change the eblt sooner rather than later.
