Here the story,
my friends hids got stolen from his tsx. He went on a vacation and left his car parked right in his drive way! they stole the whole hid system. They didnt leave much damage, since they had plenty of time to take it out. My question is does anyone kno where he can get a affermarket hid kit, that would plug into the right into his oem harness. Dealer wants an arm and a leg.

That almost happened to me, luckily, they didn't get them but left a butt-load of damage. Did they just steal the ballast and bulbs for the HIDs or the entire housing?

 

why aftermarket? doesn't want to go through insurance?

I don't think it will go up. Usually it is not that bad if it happens when you have nothing to do with it.

Can you give us more details....photos and location. I am located in queens too, and this is a problem that I have been concerned with since before I bought my TSX.

 

I ran a bit with another TSX last nite on the LIE ikn Queens. I coudn't punch it yet cus I'm still under 600mi. But also I had to hold up a bit because there's a major break in the pavement going downhill that slams ur suspension up your ass. Hope it wasn't anyone here cus ur car will fucked up going fast on that downhill ramp.

Anyways, lights are still on my car...hope no one notices.

it depends on the insurance company and the circumstances, but if you file a comprehensive claim and you are NOT at fault (the person who hit you did not have covereage, it was a hit and run, something is stolen, etc.) you premiums should not go up....but again it all depends, it would rather pay my deductable than cause i dont think new hids and fixing the damage is going to be cheap.

 

Probably repeating what better minds have already said, but... INSURANCE INSURANCE INSURANCE. Most people have a $250 comprehensive deductible (almost always less than collision deductible).

Vandilism, theft, deer damage, and anything else that happens while the car is not being driven is covered under comprehensive. This type of claim will NOT raise your premiums UNLESS you have a shady company who will try to backdoor a raise on the next premium period. If that happens, find a new insurance company and everything will be just fine as it WILL NOT show as an accident claim when a new company does their background checking.

Most companies will require you to file a police report before they accept a claim. Just make a quick phone call to the local police department and they'll send an officer out to take a quick 5 second statement and assign a worthless case # :-) Just don't expect them to turn your car into a crime scene, dust for prints, look for dna, etc... At best he'll probably just laugh at your car that has no eyes!

Hope that helps! Don't settle for aftermarket... if someone took your eyes would you want the doctors to replace them with fish eyes? Didn't think so...

No wonder, LIC is not the best neighborhood. Not ideal place to keep a new car on the street. Sorry all the same about your HIDs.
