Hid problem
No idea, I can change a regular headlight, but I'm not touching the HIDs. I pray they last a long time, cause i know they are not cheap to repair. While it sucks that the parts are expensive, what would suck even more is if you ordered a replacement bulb, and found the ignitor or ballast was bad, and the bulb was fine. I'd imagine a dealer would be able to tell which part has gone bad. Or possibly a Helm's manual if you really really don't want to take it to a dealer.
I bought an '04 tsx a few months ago and my driver side HID blew out. Just removing the bulb takes a while. I had your same problem when I first started, the best I could find online was a DIY from a lancer evo.
To get to the bulb I had to remove the headlight assembly. To do so, I removed all visible bolts, took off the plastic protectors around the engine compartment front and whichever side you will be working on. From there I had to remove the bumper (yes, the whole bumper) which is connected by some screws in the wheel well, and the plastic nobs similar to the ones holding up the rest of the plastic in the engine compartment. There are 3 bolts holding the headlight assembly in place, the last being under the assembly which is a pain to get to if you happen to have hands larger than a childs.
As for the bulb itself, it is in the compartment with the huge warning labels stating "may cause death and injury". The usual for anything that can contain thousands of volts of electricity. Remove the small screw and turn the lid to access the bulb. Here you may notice the semblance between a normal headlight seating of a honda. I took my cautions removing the bulb as I seem to enjoy my life. I used some heavy rubber gloves just in-case.
From here you can swap out the bulbs. I looked around for a bulb online and didn't find any deals worth paying shipping for. I went around locally and found the best price for a d2s @ naapa for $80. Too bad for me it was the ballast that was bad, which was $250 from the dealer. A quick note about that: I would recommend you go online to Acura's eStore. They provide a 30 day return policy, my dealer (Ferman Acura, Tampa) would not accept any returns if purchased at location.
Replacing the ballast is as simple as reconnecting the wires, and screwing it in place.

^^you don't have to remove the entire headlight assembly to change out the bulb. I don't see why anyone would design a car like that.
all you need to do is open the hood, twist off the white cover on the back of the headlight, disconnect the ignitor, disconnect the metal clip, twist and pull out the bulb.
also, if you need bulbs or ballasts, you can always find better deals online. You can sometimes find ballasts on ebay for around $100. You can also find cheap HID bulbs on there as well.
