I dont think you can adjust the brightness

where did you buy the bulbs
usually when a buld has a yellow light it is a faulty or old bulb

why did u change them in the first place?
did you change both or just one?

A new HID vs. an old HID will have a different hue and "brightness" even if they are the same brand, that's just the nature of the bulbs. Each time you change bulbs you need to change BOTH to have the same hue or brightness. Also, if one is a slightly different kelvin rating that will relate to a change in hue and brightness. More kelvins = less usable/visible light on the road. The only way to check the Kelvin ratings would be to pop the bulb out and look at the base, each bulb will have it's kelvin rating written on the base.

If you have two different brands that will also cause a change. Phillips does not equal PIAA or Sylvania, or whoever else makes them (I don't think sylvania makes HID's but oh well, it's for illustration purposes). That being said, I have never heard of "adjusting brightness" you just need another new bulb from the same company and same kelvin rating.

i changed the bulb and ballast on my driver side only. acura told me that the bulb and ballast had shorted out. when i turned on my old headlights, the light would turn on yellow and 5 seconds later turn pink and then go out after another 5 seconds.

i got the bulb and ballast at the acura dealership. the new bulb is the one that comes on yellow. you think its a bad bulb? should i return the bulb? i've been so frustrated with this light problem. i just bought the car pre-owned and i was having problems with both tail lights and head lights. (tails lights are fixed though)

it sounds like the new bulb hasn't burned it yet. the only thing I can think of to help is to either replace the other bulb. or you could turn the lights on and leave them on for a couple of hours to let the new one burn in.

as a HID nut myself, I would have to disagree with the article

yes, the the new bulbs have to be BURNT-IN, but it doesn't mean after less than a day it will balance out to look like the other side

the Color of the bulb goes UP the COLOR TEMPERATURE chart after time of use, so a new bulb 4100k (white), will star to rise in color temperature due of normal wear, so a new bulb will NEVER match a used one.

change the other side too...unless you don't care about the color

This FAQ is from a forum used to be the Phillip's lighting forum I think...where all the hid nuts used to go.

Why does a replacement bulb look yellow?
Its very rare that a high quality (Osram, Philips, GE) HID bulb break, but if it does happen it would be a normal thing purchase same brand and model. It is a normal thing that a replacement bulb of same brand and model will look more yellow. Up until now, dealers have told custmers that there is not much to do about it, unless both bulbs are
To be in front of the marked, Philips introduced the "Plus" range of HID bulbs, to have a product that will not look yellow in a situation like this. See own section for the Philips 5000K bulbs.
As an aside...my accord's hid retrofit started out blue...and after a few hours of use, it's now really white....so maybe the lights are supposed to color shift towards the yellow part of the spectrum? I've never had to replace an OEM hid bulb, so I don't know how they are different...(by the way, the accord's retrofit bulbs are for a BMW)

Not to worry you though...if Acura mentioned it needs 14 hours to burn in, I'd try that first and see how well it helps.

i have a new problem, and it's not about the light being yellow. i changed everything correctly and the light stayed on for about a week. then all of a sudden, last night the light i just changed blew out and now it won't come on. if my original problem was a shorted ballast. could there be a possiblity that something is causing these shortage to my ballasts? (its only on the driver side hid headlight) for example: a fuse or a wire cross? can anyone show how the power is connected to my ballast then my bulb? much help needed. thanks

did you replace the washer between the ballast and the headlamp assembly?
