Back in December my car got hit on the passenger side. Well I just recently took it to get it fixed. After the guys at the collision company took off the bumper they found out that the car has been hit on the drivers side. Who ever fixed the collision before did a poor job fixing it and for these guys to fix it it will cost me over 2000 dollars to get it fixed. I didn't know this before I bought the car. My question, is the dealership company responsible for letting me know about this before I buy the car? If they are can I get these guys to pay for the car to get fixed.

 

When did you buy the car? Did you get a carfax before you bought it? The right thing for them to do would be to disclose the accident, but I don't know if it's the law or not. I would at least try to get the dealership to admit the accident and fix it, but maybe they didn't even know about it. It's possible the previous owner had it "fixed" and didn't tell the dealership about it. It wouldn't hurt to go back to them and talk about it, though.

Laws may vary by state,. I hope I am dead wrong here for your sake but, I do not believe that a dealer has to disclose anything about a used car unless you specifically ask about it. This is just what I have heard in the past so it may be total BS. That sucks about your car. I would call a used car dealer or used car manager at an Acura dealer in your state and flat out ask them if my statements above are true. If not, you may have a case to get the dealer that you bought the car from to fix it.

$2000-repair...that must be pretty serious damage
yet not the dealer nor you caught that

 

I got the car back from the shop. They did a good job on it. Since I picked up the car so late the owner at the shop didn't have time to tell me everything that was wrong with the car but I will keep you guys posted.
