HELP Driverside Door Lock Not Working!!!

Yesterday out of nowhere my driver side door lock stopped working. When I use the key fob the car doesnt lock or unlock the driver side and the car wont Honk to confirm alarm activation. I can unlock the car with the key. Even pressing the unlock/lock button inside the car unlocks and locks all three doors besides the driver side. HELP!

It sounds like a faluty driver's door switch or electronic fault in the driver's door lock. You need to take it to someone who can read diagrams and diagnose.

Very possible that it's the door lock actuator. It's been discussed several times on '04's.

This is bizzare, this just happened to me last night! I am due for my 40k service on my 04' TSX (nonav) so I will address that (and my possible warped rotors) when I go in for service here in Gaithersburg, MD. Thanks for the tip on the actuator.

I had this happen to me. Some friends and I got in the car to go out to eat and everything was fine. Got to the restaurant and the car wouldn't lock. I had to lock it with the key. It wouldn't unlock either!

If I pushed the lock/unlock buttons inside the car, the drivers door lock wouldn't move. The actuator had gone out. Fixed under warranty.

Bingo. If you're vehicle is still under warranty, call the dealer and let them know of your issue. Hopefully they can order it for you (assuming they don't stock it) and take care of it within one trip.

I'm out of luck, no warranty! Where can I get a actuator for a good price? Is it just plug and play once I remove the door panel?

I just did mine. I ended up getting the part from www.oemacuraparts.com

This is an Acura dealership in Phoenix, Arizona.

TSX Front Left Door actuator: Part# 72155-SDA-A01

They had the cheapest price. Order Total: $24.57 shipped to Cali.

Hey Kenny, did you do it yourself or the stealer? That part is for the driver door rite?

Yep, driver sider front door. I did it myself. It took me about 2 1/2-3 hours doing everything carefully. It was actually a little harder than I thought it would be. After doing one though, I know doing the next one won't be a problem.

And I had the same thing happen. It didn't work for awhile and then it started working again. After awhile it just completely stopped working. Honda really should have some TSB on this. A lot of people seem to be having the problem.

I got the part cheaper on the internet but I haven't changed mine yet. Acura wants $165 for labor. Need to find someone do it for me because if I do it myself, I'm pretty sure I'll break something.

Door Lock Off Warranty

I have an 04 TSX (6 speed). Replaced actuator once under warranty but the problem returned to a different door once the warranty expired. Has anyone had success getting ACURA to cover after warranty went off?

You can ask them to goodwill the repairs. It's really up to the service manager though. If you happen to be in North Cali or the bay area and need this install done then PM me. I ended up doing Calitsx's install for him. (He was the one that started this thread.)

Even if you're not in Cali, try to find someone local who can do it. The price that the dealers are charging for this install is ridiculous!

One more for the actuator here (04 MT). I think it went bad when I rested my left arm on it while driving. Can't be sure, but discovered it the day after. I recall thinking, "god what a stupid place for the door lock" and then the next day it was broken.

Fixed under warranty at dealer without issue.

Angry Not again!

I had the Driver Side Actuator replaced under warranty. Now the Passenger Side is broken at approx 57,000 mi. Any chance I can get the dealer to do it free of charge? There is obviously something wrong with them.

Makes sense since I locked/unlocked the driver's side more often and now the passenger's side is acting up.

1 month and 2 faulty door locks later...

I just got my 2007 RDX about one month ago. I have already put in over $800 and it really ticks me off! I am only at 51,500 miles, but I did not purchase an extended warranty. Heck, I didn't think Acura needed one! Very disappointing!

Anyways, my back driver's side door lock went out and the Acura dealership replaced it and it works great now. This was only done 4 days ago. Now, I get in my car to go to lunch and my driver's door lock went out! WTF Acura?! The Acura service manager said to bring it in and they would verify that the tech's job was done correctly and it didn't interfer with the other door (since it's on the same side of the vehicle). My guess is that I am going to still have to pay to get it fixed no matter what, and this just really ticks me off to no end. I should have never given up my Nissan for this vehicle! I'm not too thrilled with my first Acura experience.

You would think that there would be a recall on the locks with all of these threads out there for the same 4ucking issue. What gives?!

Yeah same problem here... Bought a used 2005 TSX thinking it would be a good investment for the next several years. Within 3 weeks both front door actuators went out. I can't afford to get them fixed yet since there are other bills and such that are more important. The Acura dealer told me it'd be around $260 per door. It just ticks me off that I'm having problems already. Makes me wish I had my Volkswagen back!

The *only* keyless entry/remote lock on my '05 MDX that still works is the driver's side. I refuse to take it to the dealer, and I'm not about to try it myself. I don't guess any of you DIYers live in central Arkansas?

This happened to my '05 TSX drivers side door and it was a recall, so I got it fixed at the dealer. But then it happened to my passenger side and I haven't fixed it because it wasn't covered on warranty anymore and I didn't feel like spending the $$$. pretty annoying though because clearly there was an issue since they did a recall on the drivers side. but maybe too many people were complacent with the issue and didnt flip out at acura for this break.
