headlight alignment

just a quick question... when facing a wall, should the headlights be produce a perfectly straight line???...

I was facing my house last nite and noticed that the passenger side headlight was slightly higher then the driver side. so there is a split between the two right in the middle... is this normal??.. or should i go back to the dealer and get them to readjust the lights??

thanks..

In short, yes, it's normal. That's part of the DOT spec.

Most cars are setup so the left headlights are lower than the rights ones. You'll notice in the non-HID cars that the right low beam goes further to the right than the left low beams (over the entire path ahead). It's to prevent people in oncoming traffic from being blinded.

I hate it when people readjust the headlight otherwise and it blinds everyone on the road.
