So I bought 2 Moog ball joints and both my lower ball joints need to be changed.

I can't find a DIY anywhere.. planing on doing this on wednesday can someone help me out???

 

Unless you have a 20 ton press to pull these out, you are going to have to go to someone to have the old ones pressed out.

Honestly I don't think you will save a lot of money taking the knuckle to someone vs the time you will spend removing stuff. I think I paid Honda about $300 to have this done without removing the knuckle.

You will also need a good balljoint separator so you don't damage the upper balljoint on the upper control arm. I've used cheap ones before and they suck. The best one I found was a German made one which sells for $140-$150. It is expensive but it works.

If you still want to do this, grab a Helm manual, you are going to need the torque specs to get this done correctly. I can give you details on what is needed but you ultimately need the manual for proper torque settings.

 

did this myslef, basically took the knuckles off the car, couldn't press out the ball joint myself with my press so i bought it to a garage 50$ later and my ball joints were pressed out and new ones pressed in.

threw it all back on he car and its A1!

 

Where did you guys find the parts? I wonder how much acura would charge for it.

I recently changed out my axles and pierced the lower ball joint boots with a pickle fork while separating it from the wheel.

 

On my accord I put the knuckle in a vise and beat the balljoint out with a bfh. (big freaking hammer) It's not that hard.
Oh yeah, I remember using heat too. Don't know if it really helped but I saw a tip on youtube where a guy suggested putting your new balljoints in the freezer for a couple of hours, then heating up the knuckle prior to putting the balljoints in. I did it. Worked out ok.

 

ahhh i have to do this repair soon... both of my ball joints are worn -- Firestone was saying because of the width of my previous wheels and my car's height - most likely caused the issue.

please update this thread when you get yours done! --I have the parts already.. just haven't had the time to tear my car apart.. lol.

 

This job was easy compared to the control arm bushings I had to change last week... Bolt was seized inside the sleeve of the bushing.. Took 2 torchs, an air hammer, a braker bar and an impact wrench to unseize the bastards and get the bolt out. Took 5 hours to do each of them.

This job is easy lol worst case scenario for the ball joints is that if you can't get them out of the knuckle just bring them to a local garage and they'll be out and trhe new ones in in 30 minutes or less..
