fog lights don't work

I decided to see what the fog lights look like, I turn the switch on the turn signal switch and nothing. I haven't checked the fuse yet. Has this happened to anyone? Just got the car last week and no, I didn't check it before leaving the dealer's lot.

I think you need to have your headlights on at the same time for them to work, but I don't have fogs so I'll need someone else to confirm that.

That is correct, low beams must be on for them to work.

Got freaked out when I left the fog switch on one day, but turns out as long as the headlights are off there's no battery drain.

Ok - I never thought to try that. But it seems to me that they should go on without the head lights - I'll report back later. Thanks.

Unless u have aftermarket fogs......they only turn on with the low beams.

Sure enough, the headlights need to be one before the fog lights will turn on. The manual says it as well. Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it.

As I understand it, it's a DOT requirement.

come on now... did you really think that the TSX fog lights were for driving in foggy conditions? do you think the rear spoiler is to provide downforce on your back wheels? its all for style points!

I doubt it. Its manily just Japanese cars thats like that.

BMW, Mercedes, GM cars, Fords and some others you can turn the fog lights on without the low beams but you have to have the parking lights on.

Speaking of fog lights - this might sound stupid - but what's the rule of thumb for turning them on? ie - only in the fog? Or can I turn them on anytime? I was driving down to SoCal last weekend and I saw quite a few cars with both their low beams and fogs on. I simply don't know the legality of it all. Thanks!

As long as the fog/driving lights are aimed correctly, not blinding other drivers and keep the wattage between 35-55 watts, you should be AOK. Just don't change out to a 100 watt PIAA off road bulb and night blind on comming traffic.

As for the fog lights... yes. But not the spoiler - I already knew that its a total cosmetic thing. I often look and them on other cars and think "that thing has so little support in the center, how can the driver think its actually doing something"... but then I need to remind myself its all for show.

100w bulbs can also melt your wiring harnesses
