Which fix is better for dented fender?
Which fix is better for dented fender?
Unfortunately someone hit my TSX in my company parking lot (and didn't even own up to it). One of the front fenders is pushed in where it meets the bumper and the paint is scratched just above the tire.
So I go get a couple of estimates and I get two completely different stories on the fix. The first body shop says the damage is reasonably easy to fix and they will be able to blend the paint within the fender (after taking a pretty good look at the car). The second told me (after a quick look) that they would just replace the entire fender and blend the paint across the hood and the door. While I get a new fender, I think I prefer the method that will require less re-painting across my car! The color is SSM.
Thoughts please.

1) Sorry about the hit-n-run - Post picture to help us help you
2) Sorry that your workplace has that kind of asshole.
3) Sounds like my fender damage :

4) I had 6 estimates - 2 of them vote for replacement.
(reason: repaired panel won't fit headlight perfectly)
note: Replacement is going to cost you at least $600 more.
5) In the end, I found a good shop and let them do their magic and it was repaired.
great job. It was really a light damage and trivial job for the pros.
I asked the shop why not replace it, the response was:
* It was a light damage, Easy repair.
* Replacement means painting the whole door to blend - too much unnecessary new paint and the result might not be that great.

Re: Which fix is better - pictures
It's snowing here but I got the best shots I could.

Note the fender is pushed in where it meets the bumper.
Note the chipped paint and slightly bowed out fender above tire.
Scratched bumper.
The question remains - replace fender and do more painting/blending, or fix fender and do paint blending within fender?
