First Green TSX.

Alright, i'm in dire need of some help here...

Today when I got into the school parking lot, I walked around to the trunk to get my knapsack when I noticed something weird about my tires: they were green. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that someone (I later found out who, some dumb girl) had spilled green paint onto the road. I had inadvertently run through the puddle, effectively coating my tires, and thanks to the spray, parts of my car itself. Thankfully, Acura Canada provides us Canuks with complimentary front splash guards; those were successfully able protect the front end of my car. However, the same cannot be said of the rear... my back bumper has a lovely spray of green all over it.

I'm going to confront the girl (who apparently dropped the can onto the ground, and dragged it across the road, without even thinking at all) and argue that she should at least pay for the removal of the paint off my car (i.e. the paint thinner).

However, I am very concerned. If I rub paint thinner on the car's painted surfaces, will it too rub off the clear coat and the car's body paint? What are my other options? Am I screwed? Should I just leave it the way it is?

Any opinions would be appreciated.... Thank you ahead of time.

J.

that really sucks the big one bow.
I would call some body shops and get their take on it. It will depend on what kind of piant it was, and the sooner you get it off, the easier it is. Less bonding...

Sorry to hear about your mishap dude.

Maybe you should paint the whole car green...j/k.

Pink.. brings me back to the days of the Mary Kay Pink TSX discussions.. ah the good old days.

I dont really have any interest having a partner who is irresponsible enough to not clean up their own mistakes. Hone up to it, and make sure it doesnt cause anyone else any harm...

Dumb girl. And yes, I am that pissed off.

I think a green accent looks good with silver! Any takers? No? Damn.

do you know what type of paint? some paint is oil base that can use wax or thinner to remove, but i don't think the same for drywall paint, they may scratch TSX's surface?? if you do quick enough, wax will remove these oil base paint... my previous experiences is paint thinner will not harm clear coat, if you don't want to wait for a long time, use Acetone, it's much powerfu then regular thinner. these were my previous experiences with 95 Accord.... not sure it TSX's thin coat can handle. but best try it at under side of truck to result..
help these helps..

just a thought, but if its not too much ... just use a clay bar .. may take awhile, but hey it'll be worth it.

Its definately going to matter what kind of paint. Certain paints will come off on their own (with rain, etc) and others will be a real problem.

I would give this girl an earful she would never forget.

I called up the local serivce department at the Acura dealership here in London, and they told me that since they dont have a body shop of their own, that I should call CarStar, their locally endorsed body shop. Apparently, when Acuras get damaged in London, Ontario, they get sent over to CarStar. I gave them a call, talked with Wayne, and he told me that paint thinnner, if washed off properly, would most likely not cause any problems with the finish. He informed me that he had a a special car-specific type of paint thinner that he felt would be safer, and said that I should stop in anytime tomorrow and he'd help me remove it for free.

Yes. Im getting help, for free. I couldnt believe it too.

So, for anyone in the London, Ontario area, check out London CarStar and talk to Wayne.
He can be reached at (519) 473-5431.

I'll report back with the results tomorrow.

That's from the SEMA show that just passed. I think it looks awesome but that discussion is for another thread.

They used a car-specific weak paint thinner. It just rubbed right off.
