First Gen Sunroof.
Hello,
Aside from the common squeaking/creaking issue with the sunroof, has anyone experienced serious issues with their sunroof? I've been noticing that mine has been making some really odd sounds while it's closing. So far everything seems ok, (aside from the odd sounds), but I'm wondering if sunroof issues are a common thing with the first gen TSX's down the road?

Other than the squeaking/creaking/rattling it always does, I've had no problems with my sunroof. I tilt it or open it almost daily for a good part of the year.

No sounds here, But i do maintain it by wiping down the rubber seals around the moon roof with leather cleaner and find a good amount of debris coming off.
Might want to give that a try.

I get the crackling noise when I tilt it too. It concerned me at first, but after a few months I just got used to it. The one in my last car made some odd noises too from the day I bought it, but never gave me any problems. And I use mine almost every day too.

That is right... never touch it unless if necessary.....
What happened to me was, I used to have a 2.3 CL back in 99, and one corner of the rubber seal around the sunroof popped out after closing the opened sunroof. I took it to the deal to try to fix it, or get the rubber replaced. Back then, I have no idea that the rubber wasn't replaceable, and they have to replace the entire sunroof kit for me. Ever since, the sunroof just keep leaking water whenever the rain was heavy or if in the high pressure car wash. I know a little leak is normal, but what I am talking about is, the drain of underneth the sunroof rubber seal cannot hold the water, and it spilled onto my face
Just not to touch it, as the machanic in the dealship will not be able to put it back to the way that is should from the assemble. Dunno whether it is just the way or just the Honda mechanic sucks!

Oh, I should probably mention too that mine's on 08. It entered service in Oct of 07, so it's less than a year old. I bought it CPO in April with 3200 miles on it, and from the day I picked it up, it's made the noise. But it doesn't leak, even in those crazy Florida afternoon thunderboomers, or the one time I took it to a car wash.

Someone stole "My Garage"
To be honest, I get a loud "click" or "smack" sound... hard to describe, but I have heard the exact sound before, and I believe it's caused by the relatively thick grease that is in the tracks for the sunroof. If the grease gets trapped and pressured, it "pops" out and makes that sound.
Again this isn't 100% but is my best guess, and I only hear it maybe 10-20% of the time I open or tilt my sunroof (you'll notice that the sunroof uses the same track for both operations... look up next time you are opening it and you'll see the tracks and the grease that I'm talking about).
I wouldn't wipe the grease off though... it's better to have to live with the occasional pop/click, than to have to clean or replace a seizing sunroof track.

And I have seen people tilt the sunroof up while driving in rain and snow.... this is only my personally opinion, but I think it is a bad idea... as more moisture will get into the track and may wash the grease off in the long run...... sooner to get a seizing sunroof.....
