Filling up

Ever since I started using my SS and started accelerating hard in 1, 2, and 3rd gears my Gas empty warning comes on really early. One instance was about a month ago. I left my house with the gas warning sign on and the range said 7 miles. I drove with it to NJ all the way from Queens, NY (about 20miles). That driving was alot of higway but there was also heavy bumper to bumper traffic. By the time I reached NJ after just crossing over from Staten Island, I know of a Shell in Perth Amboy that I can fill up for cheap. It was kinda out of the way being on the other side of the higway but I said its better safe than sorry. So I get to the pump and fill up all the way and it only fills up 14.1 gallons. I was amazed that the car still had 3 gallons of gas in it and I probably consumed 2 gallons from my starting point.

Does anyone know why this occurs or how I can reduce the timing on the warning message?

I imagine you're burning gas up faster...! Maybe check the MID for your avg mileage on a tank.

As discussed elsewhere, before, (search is your friend) the light comes on with about 2.5 gallons left in the tank. YMMV. I don't suspect that it's coming on earlier due to your driving style. Maybe you're sloshing the fuel out of the sump where the sensor usually resides on most cars.

The CPU could be projecting that driving more aggressively, which burns more fuel, means it should warn you sooner since it assumes you will continue to drive that way. I don't know if the system is THAT smart, but it's a possibility.

The 2008 owners manual[1] states the light comes on when 2.3 gallons are remaining. I doubt it's figuring out, "boy, he's pumping the gas through, we'll light the Low Fuel Warning indicator when he's got 60 miles remaining, which is about 3.5 gallons at this rate...."

Wow dude, no need to be so shitty. I guess I was being a bit too optimistic in suggesting it was a possibility that the indicator was dynamic, reacting with driving information, rather than a standard static indicator. Take a deep breath, remove the stick, and I hope tomorrow's a better day for you.

?? What in my comment do you think was directed at you personally? Ask any mod, I often look things up in the manual for clarification, you're no special case.

As to "remove the stick,"... welcome to my ignore list.

Sorry for misinterpreting the response. AS for the rest of the comment,

To the OP. I hope you get this figured out.
