Few Problems

Been awhile since I've been on here. Just to give a little history, I had an 04 TSX that i babied the hell out of. I loved that car. But last year due to work moving to cali i gave the car to my brother in law while I was gone. When I came back I bought an s2000 and let him keep it. Fast forward a few months and now hes buying a new truck and I took the TSX back to give to my girlfriend to replace her POS 3 series.

After getting the car back it seems he hasn't washed the thing since I gave it to him a year ago. I also noticed a few issues i need a little help with which bring me here, the community thats never steered me wrong.

Before we get started please note that I did attempt to search for fixes on my own but the search function on the forum seems to be down at the moment.

Problems

*Rear spoiler seems to be loose - I noticed 2 bolts on either side beneath a rubber stopper under the trunk lid. Can I just tighten those?

*Lights for the all the buttons on the radio and ac have gone out. The displays for both work fine.

*SRS light comes on sporadically while driving. This one is a big one seeing as its going to the girlfriend I want to keep her in one piece.

Thanks to everyone in advance for the help and ideas.

One more thing I forgot

Whenever I turn the Rear Defroster on the radio goes to static, I know it has to do with the antenna being integrated into the window. Wanted to know if anyone else has dealt with this.

Well for one of your problems there was a TSB issued. It's for the center console lights. You need a new printed circuit board or PCB. The fix is free at the dealer. More info can be found in the FAQ section.

call them up and talk to the dealership, they may cover it for you anyway. tell them you just found out about it.

you should be able to just tighten the bolts on the spoiler, though I've never seen a spoiler come loose?

srs light could be a number of things. you're probably going to have to wait for the light to come on and stay on to pull a code out of it. SRS is generally related to airbags and seatbelts.

I think I read somewhere that they are covering it to 110k now, but yes, ask your dealer anyway. Acura may goodwill it considering they know the problem is very common.

With the static noise when you use the defroster, do you have any tint on the rear window? If so that may be the issue. If not then you may have a grounding issue.

What issues did you have with the 3 series?

I do have tints but i got them a couple months into owning the car back in 2005. The static is a relatively new development.

As for the 3 series, it's my girlfriend's car and it'd be simpler to answer what wasn't wrong with it but ill give you a quick run down.

-Brake Booster * repaired
-radiator and hoses leaked
-power steering pump cracked
-the radio takes 2 fuses; only one was present with a wire attached to one leg connecting to something i havent figured out yet. I disconnected this and replaced all the fuses with new ones in the hopes of alleviating another problem where the battery dies every month or so and no longer holds a charge. Shes gone through 4 batteries. So far all I've managed to do do is stop the radio from working.
-power door locks never worked
-motors for both front power windows blew *repaired

Im sure there are a couple more things im forgetting. It was a 99 330i and Im glad she's in the TSX now. Im always worried her car is going to leave her stranded some where.

Yeah the 99's weren't that reliable but the newer gen are quite a bit better but nowhere near as reliable as the Japanese cars. I would have someone look at the grounding issue. You can also try Googling this as I also saw a similar issue with a Hyundai Sonata I had as a rental.
