Exhaust Heat Shield?

I'll be picking up a new rear lip to replace my melted rear lip soon, and am looking for some kind of heat shield to prevent future melting issues. On top of extending my hangers.

There doesn't seem to be any heat shield made for the tsx exhaust area, and I'm wondering if there are any universal (?) ones, or will I have to get them custom made.

All the search results include discussions about melted lip/bumpers, but nothing about preventive measures.

So, anyone know where to get some?

Get some aluminum flashing (used where your roof bumps into a wall, find it at the hardware store) and some tin snips? Shouldn't be that hard to fab something custom up. I'm not sure how you would attach it. Rivets?

How would you mount the sheets? If you mounted the aluminum to the lip, wouldn't it just transfer heat and still melt?

+1 on aluminum question, since it conducts heat

Hmm... anyone know the melting point of carbon fiber?

I think it would reflect a good bit of and dissipate the rest of it over a large enough area that it would prevent the melting. One could put a material like header wrap or Nomex between the bumper and the metal if they were concerned about it.

As far as attachment goes, I suggested rivets in my original post but there are other options. This is the kind of thing that separates the true modders from the wannabes with thick wallets.

Carbon fiber itself will not melt. It's already as burnt as it's going to get. The resin holding it all together is different story. That can't take much heat at all. Not a viable solution to this problem. You either need metal or a heat resistant material (header wrap (I'm not sure what this is made of), Nomex or asbestos (or whatever they use instead now)).

Short of having custom parts fabricated, the aluminum flashing is the best option I see right now.
