Eletrical Problem

04 TSX w/out nav

This is my wife's car and I don't know if it is related but I had the a/c comp. replaced right before this problem started.

Anyway... while driving or idling everything electrical will shut off and come back on again quickly. It usually happens so fast that the engine will just "hiccup". Sometimes afterward the CE and/or airbag light will stay on for a while. I checked the code and it's "P0685 ecm/pcm power relay control circuit/ open"

Last weekend I replaced the ignition switch with no luck. I was thinking if I can't find an answer here I will change the battery cables next. But I hate throwing parts at a problem so please, someone help me.

Thanks.

I was just reading through the technical service bulletins a might have found it. Looks like it might be a bad neg batt cable or a bad ground someplace.

I'd check the negative terminal. If they took it off when they replaced the a/c compressor, it might have been damaged putting it back on. That's an odd presentation of the problem though. I just had a bad negative terminal on a buddy's Escort. It had charging problems and a slow start when it was cold, but never gave us any other problems. We carpool too when possible, so I spend a decent amount of time with the Escort (and he bought it off my sister, so I'm pretty familiar with it.) The problems you describe I had on my old Accord years ago, and it was an ignition switch. But you never know, it could be.

I checked the voltage drop on the neg. battery cable like the TSB said and it was well out of range. $8 later and problem solved.

I would suggest that anyone with odd electrical should check theirs out.

My car is still having that problem with the electric coming on and off really quickly. I took it to Acura twice and they cannot find the problem. I told them about the TSB and they checked the voltage but everything seemed to check out fine. I dont know what to do! Any suggestions??

Try a new neg. batt. cable anyway. It's only a few bucks and really easy to change.

I am having this same issue on my 2005 RL. I have been told it might be a bad battery. DID THE NEW NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE FIX THE PROBLEM?

The OP noted that it solved his problem.

It did fix the problem. And for less than $12! What do you have to lose?

It's been almost 2 years and it hasn't happened since.

Just noticed I misspelled 'electrical' in the title.
