DVD DISC ERROR on Navi

My navi just stopped working yesterday. "DVD DISC ERROR, PLEASE CONSULT YOUR DEALER" Could the fact that i have a system have anything to do with this? If it does do you guys think it will still be covered under warranty, i never messed with any of the wires or the harness for the navi. Any help would be great. thanx

DVD Disc might be scratched from the subwoofer in the trunk. You must have been really cranking it. I don't think that would be covered by warranty. But I think it is only the DVD disc that need to be replaced.

this same error happens to me about 2-3 times a month, the navi just resets itself and it's good to go...will have to bring this up with the dealer at some point before warranty expires...

I have been getting the same error for the past few weeks and it ususally resets itself... Also I have been getting an error saying the changer is open.... When in fact it is not.... Next time I go into the dealer for an oil change I will have them take a look at it.

I would think that a malfunctioning navi disk would be covered under warranty even if you modified your stereo system.

yea they'll fix it for $105

acura charges $88 / hour for "diagnostics" and to determine how it was broken-- then they're gonna charge and arm n leg to fix it (prob. send it to alpine)
They didn't necessarily say it wasn't still under warranty, but they said if the diagnostics determines that I had caused it-- i have to pay for everything...which they'll def. screw me for... they implied that it was most likely caused by me -- sound system etc.

fuckin stupid-- i'd rather just pay the $105 and get it over and done with

Did they know about the subwoofers? Or know why the Navi wasn't working?

Because if it was your system that screwed up the Navi, do you have ideas how to prevent that from happening again, aside from not cranking your aftermarket sound system?

Hehe... somebody wants to crank it up! lol
It's going to be hard to crank it and not scratch the dvd at the same time or mess anything up.
12 inch subs can do a lot of damage/vibration.
If you still want to crank it i'd suggest dynamating the heck out of your trunk and then moving your DVD nav to a different location further away from the subwoofer in the trunk, then denaymat that too. That should help with a lot of the vibration.

I mean... 12's can vibrate the entire car and the car next to it.

what i am thinking is that the bass shattered the lens inside the navi, there is a way to prevent it, kind of hard but it will work depending on how the navi is wired.

What you have to do is check the wiring for the navi, if the navi wires are in their own casing then all you have to do is relocate the navi unit(like in the MDX; under the passenger seat), if the wires are all tied in with other wires it is going to be a bitch.

btw new navi has arrived, being installed on thursday.

that is def the best idea, try under the seat, there seems to be enough room without the top mountting bracket.
