Driver Side Curtain Airbag

Well this morning at approximately 1230 I was heading home from a friends house; minding my own buisness when all of a sudden I hear this loud "POP." My first instinct was to take cover Then I took a glance over my left my shoulder and realized my freaking side curtain airbag and driver side seat SRS bag deploys. I pull over and park along the side of the road to find a pretty huge size rock laying in the path that I had traveled over. Approaching the car while I was in the vehicle (prior to airbags deploying) I thought it was a plastic bag or bundled up newspaper as I did not have time to manuvure around it . So now I'm driving around w/ my bags deployed until tommorrow to get things rolling. I guess things could have been worse (meaning my VOLKS could have been bent) AAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHH... I just figure I'd vent a bit. I will post pictures for you all later this afternoon. I guess I wanted to know if anybody else has ever had this situation happen to them at all?

Running over a huge rock made your driver's side curtain airbag and seat airbag deploy?! How big was the rock?

The rock was slightly larger than a brick. I know I promised pictures but my GF has my camera at the moment, I will post ASAP.

you sure you didn't bend a rim? check for slow leaks, it might not be totally visible to the eye

Well I went to the dealer this morning and talked to the service tech. advisor. His response was that since the airbag deployed, that repairs would not be covered under warranty and that I would have to claim all the repairs with my insurance. He then calls out one of the service tech's to see what the reason behind my airbag deploying was caused by, the tech. stated that, being that my car has an aftermarket suspension that the rock I ran over possibly caused me to bottom out and triggered the SRS sensor located near the driver side fender. So tommorrow I meet w/ my adjuster to see where this leads me.

that's some bs, i've bottomed out hard enough to rattle my teeth and never had a problem. TSXs get hit at 50mph and the air bags don't deploy, and now a rock caused it.. right

I would say teh rockflew up after you ran over it.. and that could explain the airbag sensor.. wouldn't have anything to do with the suspension.

PM Update: Well I dropped off my car at Las Vegas Acura (the only freakin Acura in the Las Vegas Valley) about an hour ago. The total cost to replace everything is $1700 which entails: Driver side seat, Side Curtain Airbag, Driver side seat airbag, and airbag sensors/modules. I'm with out my baby now for approximately 10 days.

No one asked this but ummm you never SENSED hitting that "huge size rock" ????
or you just chose to not mention hitting it, because that should have given you quite a jolt, no ?

Well I finally came to that conclusion after the fact. Initially I had thought that the "rock" was a bundled up newspaper in the middle of the road. I was traveling in the slow lane surrounded by another vehicle on my left and the curb to my right; so my assumption was to hit the "assumed" newspaper with the meatiest portion of the wheel as possible. But yea, hitting that huge size rock gave me a bit of a jolt!
