Door panel rattle source

I pulled the pass F door panel this morning to test-fit my speaker spacer rings.

While I was pulling the panel off I noticed that there was a LOT of flex when I pulled on the pocket. (I was using a panel popper properly, btw.)

After I removed the panel, it turned out that THREE of the plastic-weld points towards the front of the pocket, near the speaker, were broken - allowing the pocket to rattle against the back of the panel. The one closest to the speaker looked like a mis-mold, because there was very little plastic to work with (so I cans ee why it failed).

I got out my soldering torch to re-weld the points, and it worked. However, I forgot to plug in the window switch, and when I removed the door panel to plug in the switch my welds popped again (even though I was only pulling on the panel, NOT the pocket!).

I am going to repair these again when I pull the panel to do the speaks on Tuesday... but if you have rattles in your door, you might want to check this out. This was purchased in August of '03, btw, so it's very early production...
