Dipstick Difficulties

I just checked the oil on my wife's new 06. I found the dipstick very hard to remove. I could not remove it by pulling straight up, but if I twisted it to the right a bit it would pop out. It feels like it is held in by a spring tension. Is it normal to have to twist it? The manual doesn't mention anything special.

Also, when re-inserting the stick, it seems to require a twist to get the handle in the right position.

Is this normal? If I have that much trouble removing it, there's no way my wife will be able to do it. I'm trying to train her to check it at every gas stop, and this is not helping.

She likes to have a little twist to the right when you're pulling it in & out. It keeps it from coming out too easy. Trust me, it's an upgrade!

Practice makes perfect. It is actually quite easy once you do it a few times.
