dinged! here's the photo.

Got a ding on my driver's door. The ding is deeper than a typical shopping-cart encounter, and is pretty obvious under the sun.

I called my dealer, who didn't think it required a body shop visit. They suggested taking my car in and let their dent/touch-up guy look at it first. It probably can be taken care of at that level. (Being the paranoid type as I am, I asked what's the worst-case scenario. They said the worst case would be for a bodyshop to remove the dent and repaint the door panel, but they don't think it's required based on my description.)

You guys have any idea what kind of $$$ should this ding demand? There's hardly any paint loss. A tiny bit of touch-up paint may be needed after the dent is removed.

Also, I don't care if the job is not perfect. As long as the area doesn't stand out in the sun, I'm satisfied. (I'm sure I'll get hit more anyway.)

Thanks.

I had a scratch running down my bumper a week after I got the car, and the body shop charged me $237 to remove, sand and repaint the bumper. It looks perfect. They said the paint on my CG was really easy to match.

I'll be interested in what you find out about your ding, though, since I too have a ding just above the fuel filler door and some weird buckling in the sheet metal at three of the corners of the moon roof (I think it came from hitting a bump really hard, believe it or not). So far, I've been very disappointed in how flimsy the sheet metal seems to be. I had a plastic bulb cover from my garage door opener fall onto the roof a couple of weeks ago, and it put a dent in the roof that looked like yours (I pressed it out from behind with a wrench, and it looks fine, now). WAY too deep for something so light to do. I feel like I'm driving in a tin can, where I expected a solid car (my first Acura).

One thing you might try is those dent doctor fellows. This sort of thing should be right up their alley, and the flimsy sheet on our cars should be easy for them to press back into place!

You know what, I agree with you! The exterior gets scatched/dinged way too easily. I'm not kidding.

This kind of stuff is annoying to no end and has me worried too. My wife insisted on CG (admittedly a real pretty color) over what I wanted - SSM. With the latter color, it's almost impossible to see dings or dents. I found the correct body side molding on the UK Honda Accord site for 140 British Pounds. Need to find out how to order and install (if it involves drilling holes in the side, I'll pass though). It comes (primered) in black, ready to paint I think. _____________________________

If it's just the ding, it could be pulled out for about $70.

anybody put that clear bra stuff on their doors as well? probably won't help too much for dents but it would keep the paint from scratching when you do get dinged.

I got it fixed by going through the ding-repair guy of my dealer. It was not perfect, but I didn't expect it to be. At least now it's hardly noticeable until I tell you where it is. Before it was really noticeable, especially under the sun.

The job was $50 and I am satisfied.
