Dealer put two dents in my car!!!

So I got a call from my service advisor, he said he had bad news. Apparently the tech who was fixing the rattle coming from my sunroof let a machine “get away from him” and put two dents in the roof of my car. The dents were made from inside so they are protruding out, like it was done with a fork. My office is only 5 minutes away from the dealer so I went by to check things out, needless to say I am not happy….I am not sure how they can fix this without it being apparent something happen to that area. They are having a collision specialist look at it tomorrow. What would you all do???

WOW that flippen sucks sorry to read that. first of all I would no way in hell pay for anything that they are going to do. Second once the car is fixed hopefully with no problems make sure the sunroof rattle is gone.

Dont worry, They will take care of it. You dont have to pay single dime so why worry? If you are not happy with after the repair... you could always ask them to redo it.

They will have to take it to a body shop and perform metal shrinking with a torch and a slapping iron. If they don't know how to shrink metal, take it to someone who does. Otherwise, they will be chasing the dent around the roof with the traditional hammering method.

Well I got my car back from the dealer yesterday, and it’s still noticeable their was something done in the area of the dents. Now there is a wave in the metal and they put two large scratches by the storage area under the radio. Taking it back next week for them to see what they can do about the wave, only good news is they fixed the rattle which was the original reason the car went in. Will see what happens next…

my best advice for you is learn how to deal with the scratches/dents... after all it's a car that's meant to be used. You park it on the street, you live it in the hands of others so scratches/dents DO happen, unless you are really obsessive and either have it in a garage or don't let it out of your sight 24/7.

My almost 2 month old 06 already has dents, two from the dealer and one from myself Instead of loosing sleep over it, I let it go. It's not worth wasting time or money on this.

I dented my car the first month I got it by dropping a bottle of wax on the rear 1/4 panel. That's stupidity for you.

I can deal with dents and scratches; I’ve got several on my BMW X5 no biggie. Not concerned with the interior scratches, the dent/wave in the roof is totally unacceptable, and quite noticeable.

You're right. However, when the car is nearly brand new and he paid a lot of money for it, he is justified in his displeasure over the incident. My TSX is over 2 years old and it still doesn't have a single scratch on it.

Angry

Got a call from the service manager, who said she had been taking with the sales manager about my situation. They are offering to put me into a 07 tsx navi for close to 4k, my current tsx is non navi so I welcome the enhancement. Told them if we split the difference we would have a deal, he went on and on about he would hardly be making any profit etc and that the offered tsx was being sold/traded at or below invoice, I told him in this situation he's not entitled to a profit given the circumstances. He said he couldn’t move off 4k, told him nope. So I am taking the car in tomorrow for them to replace the wave in my roof. I guess the next call I will be making is to the owner of the dealership, who is a very nice man, worked with him before on another customer service issue different car. Factory recall on my TL and had 6 or 7 transmissions replaced and none of them worked, the owner got me a brand new one and it worked fine.
